The vehicle cab are equipped electronically and mechanically using technical aids specific to various impairments, such as reumatism, MS, spinal cord injuries, spastics, and many more.

"The effect will be that the driver will be able to try out adaptations that are unique to his/hers individual needs, and test acceleration, braking and steering cues as if he or she were actually driving a real car", states Don Beattie, Marketing Manager at Autoadapt UK Ltd. in Birmingham.
The Autoadapt Group is by far one of the largest European car adaptation companies, and an internationally leading product provider in the field of car adaptation for the elderly and disabled.

The Driver Test Station are increasingly used for assess the most suitable type of adaptations for impaired users' individual requirements.

"The Autoadapt DTS are an excellent practical and effective educational tools to impart safe driving training techniques for analysis of the driver behaviours and responses. Analysis of the user performances and evaluating user performances in different conditions. And used in training situations for impaired users”, explains Don Beattie.

Autoadapt furthermore reveals two new product lines at the Mobility Roadshow 2009. Autoadapt are exclusive to sell the CG Lock and Recaro seats to the car mobility industry in the UK.

"The CG-Lock is probably one of the smartest little aids ever introduced to the mobility market which according to our first clients makes it a must for all disabled drivers”, says Marketing Manager Don Beattie.

The CG-Lock is a small metal device that clips on to the existing seatbelt in less than 5 minutes. Once in place it allows the user to tightly secure the pelvis via the lap belt, whilst still allowing full upper body mobility.

The well-known line of Recaro seats features interesting models targeted at persons with reduced mobility such as Recaro Ergomed (with/without Airbag), now with a fully electric side bolsters adjustment and easy-to-operate switch pack or the Recaro Orthopaed with the he unique Recaro climate package as standard, plus fully upholstered headrest, adjustable for height and tilt providing optimised crash protection, individually upholstered shoulder support, individual lumbar support with (electric) backrest adjustment and backrest side bolsters which improve lateral support for muscle relaxation

As an extra icing on the cake Autoadapt launch Europes' first universally removable Hand Operated Driving Control, made by the Italian company Kivi, designed be used in cars with an automatic transmission or automatic clutch by drivers with lack of mobility to the lower limbs.

The quick release on the steering wheel has been designed to allow the ring to be fitted and taken away without any damage to the wheel, makes driving easier for abled bodied persons, as they an easily remove the hand control when using the are, or gives more space for a driver in a wheelchair to handle the folded wheelchair without

"Moreover, the hand control has a "power saved acceleration mode" activated, by pressing one button on the brake lever. This feature gives thepossibility to use only a part of the engine power, without reducing the stroke of the accelerator ring", Don Beattie concludes.
