Private plate 'may prove popular'

Tue, 19 May 2009
A private plate going under the hammer next month could attract a lot of interest, it has been suggested.

DVLA Personalised Registrations revealed it has high hopes for 3 O - after 1 O and 2 O were bought for £210,242 and £142,294 respectively earlier this year.

Marketing manager Damian Lawson said: "We have been completely bowled over by some of the incredible sums paid for our registrations this year, especially in this current economic climate."

However, people with more limited budgets can still treat themselves, the group claimed.

It pointed out more quirky offerings like HOT 71P and NOT 600D are available - with reserve prices starting from £350.

The sale will last for three days at Wychwood Park in Crewe and gets underway on June 3rd.

In related motoring news, the upcoming 59-series of registrations was recently unveiled online.

The plates are due to go on sale on June 2nd.
