Lewis Hamilton to appear at racing festival

Fri, 23 May 2008
British Formula One star Lewis Hamilton is to attend this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed where he will jump in his F1 McLaren and take part in the 1.16-mile Goodwood hillclimb.

It follows the 23-year-old's British F1 debut appearance at the celebrated event last year when he received a rapturous welcome from motorsport fans.

The Earl of March, the festival's founder, said he was "delighted" to welcome Hamilton back to the three day event, which will be held in Goodwood Park in east Sussex from July 11th to 13th.

"He really thrilled the motor sport fans here last year and I am certain that he will put on another great show for them again here in July," he remarked.

A number of well known F1 veterans will also be at the festival, including Sir Jackie Stewart, Murray Walker, Ron Dennis and Patrick Head.

The first Goodwood Festival of Speed was held in 1993 and it has since established itself as a major event in the motorsport calendar. As well as the races themselves, the event will also feature an exhibition area, activity area, live music and air displays.
