These are the UK's top 10 best-selling cars. This list is based on the latest car registration data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders - also known as the SMMT.

This list includes popular hatchbacks from Ford, Vauxhall and Volkswagen. The numbers are based on the volume of new vehicles registered by showrooms in England, Scotland and Wales during the month of September. The list includes cars bought outright and those funded by finance, like PCP and HP.

Vauxhall Corsa - 10,553 registered

We'd challenge you to find someone who hasn't driven or travelled in a Corsa. Over the years this likeable little Vauxhall has been one of the UK's favourite cars, with drivers loving its low running costs and comfy cabin. The latest model was launched in 2019 and follows in much the same stead as its predecessors, albeit with better styling, more in-car tech and higher levels of standard equipment.

How many of the top cars are for fleets Hertz, Avis etc etc?

How many are pre-reg cars to attain garage target sales?

It would be interesting to see a breakdown of cars bought by the man/woman in the street as they are spending "real money" and not a line on a corporate spreadsheet.

I agree. The figures quoted are registrations, not sales.
