Following a successful interview and assessment day with a bus company, I sent off my PCV provisional application and medical form to the DVLA. My medical form was sent to the medical section on 23rd. July. I have contacted the DVLA twice in that time, and they say due to numbers, it will take time. They will write to me if there is any problem. As yet they have neither contacted me with a problem or contacted my GP. I have an LGV license and had no delay in getting my license with the medical part of the application. Is anyone else on here having delays with the medical section processing their forms? Is this lapsed time usual? I expected a process of 4-5 weeks at the most, but this is way beyond what they say is normal. I need to know whether there is a problem as I presume the bus company are anxious for me to start training. I need to know also so that I can look for alternative employment if need be. I have been unemployed for 3 months now.

Hi
And thanks for the suggestions .
In the past few days things have changed and an SUV seems way off
Typical change of mindset :(
It looks like a sporty hatch has caught the eye of Mrs Boris and the DS3 keeps being mentioned .
I quite like but don't know much about them ,I had suggested making a list of manufactures with similar car types and start there.
I like the Mini Clubman and they are just in price range .
Would that be a good place to start??
Thanks all for who have contributed so far
I drive a manual Focus zetec 1.6 which is not long ago I purchased. My car is parked in a incline road so when I stick it in reverse and I would usually apply minimal throttle to make the car move because I don't like to rev the car while my foot is still on the clutch as I heard it isn't good for the clutch but sometimes I don't apply enough throttle then the car will judder or make a creak noise as if the car is about to stall but can damage the clutch/transmission or something in car component.

It might just have a juddery clutch - it does happen, and can be a symptom of wear, contamination or, heaven forfend, an iffy DMF if the car has one. It doesn't necessarily mean failure is imminent though. I've had a couple of cars that were prone to clutch judder, but I've never actually had to replace a clutch in 40 years of driving.
I agree with the previous answer actually - if you have a tame mechanic, get him (or her) to check it out for you by trying it....

Had an almost flat tyre on the baby Merc yesterday. Pumped it up with my little compressor but diagnosed a leaking valve. Took it to ATS Bury St Edmunds this morning at 8:30. The guy had a quick look, inserted a special tool into the valve and took out the offending part, replacing it with a new one. Inflated tyre to correct pressure. No charge! Gave the guy the price of a pint for his help.
The thing is, last time this happened, I had to have a "tyre health check", the wheel and tyre removed from the car and a new valve and re-balance. Still only £10 ish, but probably unnecessary after this morning's events.... Read more
a kind gesture like the price of a pint, bottle of wine or 4 pack of beer counts for a lot in my opinion.
So many greedy, needy people these days don't even us the words thank you.
I have a little problem with my year 2000 ford focus the problem is when i turn the car on and i put the accelerator pedal down and then take my foot off it again the needle on the rev counter goes below 1 rpm and back up to 1 rpm and i have to keep charging my battery can you tell me what the problem is thanks Read more
Connect a volt meter across the battery, it should read around 14.4 volts with the engine running, much less and the alternator is faulty.

Hi all. I've just bought an 07 1.9d family doblo.
When pulling away sometimes it seems a bit juddery in 1st or 2nd.
The seller says the dpf has been removed so are the 2 linked?
Also will it cause any damage having no dpf?
Any thoughts appreciated

I always have a fascination with self-righteous posters.
Can't help wondering if they are so meticulous in obeying every aspect of every law themselves. Especially motoring enthusiasts who experience so many temptations to break the law on every trip. Almost every motoring regulation has safety, health or convenience of others at heart so I imagine they are horrified at any suggestion they might transgress....
Designers are told to simplify, and slickify. Nobody wants all this in one ugly box, hasn't the Apple experience registered yet?
Back to the lab with this one and set new targets: wireless installation, price point £75, touch screen, and no need to use a phone.... Read more
Dab for only 100 quid. Maybe might be good but I would rather have a dab radio instead of using my mobile

Cutbacks I expect. Usual thing.
