I have been unable to remove the fan. I watched YouTube and used the repair manual and it will not budge.
Any other ideas that I can use?... Read more
I'm looking at the new C Class as a potential next buy, particularly the c200 petrol version. There are numerous reviews of the 2014 model but they're all about the 220 or 250 diesels. If anyones got experience or feedback on the petrol engine any info would be much appreciated.

hi all, i have a 98 fiesta that has a prob with cooling fan, the fan is working as is the relay, fuse and temp sender, i have bridged wires to show high temp reading on the dash and it still hasnt kicked in, are the temp sender and fan switch seperate and if so where can i find the fan switch, it is not on the rad or thermostat housing, but i did see a sensor on the water pump, could that be it????...any help greatly appreciated Read more
Does this have a two speed fan? I had a similar problem wirth my Berlingo and it turned out the resistor for low speed had corroded away. So it would come on at high speed only. When I tested the relays they were all fine and simply putting 12V to the fan worked as well.
Just a thought!...
I had a car raio fitted recently at one of the largest places doing this. A Sony radio was duly fitted but it wouldn't work on key position one. I.E you can only have the radio on with the ignition sitched on. I as told all car radios ar like that now but it could be live wired but that would run the battery down all he time. I was told to sit with the ignition on to listen to the radio...is that a ood idea? I don't think so. I have contacted Mercedes and Sony who both reckon a radio should work in key position one. Of course the clock on he set dosen't keep time either for obvious reasons. The DAB aerial has been randomly stuck on he windscreen and looks a mess and the reception ain't great with intereference on some stations. I have complained big time and await with interest their response. Read more
If the radio looses its memory with the ignition off there are a couple of wires you can swap over on the adaptor loom.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and wondered if any technical experts can help me out. My micra distributor packed up after 15 years of trouble free driving (140,00 on clock). Garage put new one in, replaced plugs and HT leads and since then it has frequently lost power and then completely skipped at irregular and unpredictable intervals. Only when cruising rather than accelerating. Never quite stalls and then the engine catches back up. Garage say they don't know what it is but might be expensive sensor part in throttle control. I dont see why this part should coincidentally have gone at the same time as the distributor. I notice the distributor is a completely different size and shape to the original one. Could it just be that the timing needed adjusting after they fitted it and they havn't bothered to check it? I dont trust them to give me an honest answer. Read more
There you go, glad I took the trouble to have a go myself, adjusted the timing roughly then checked the rpm at idle speed with a handy little hand held digital meter I got on Amazon.
Just had to take the side cover off under the right wing and stick a little bit of white tape over the rim of the cranshaft pulley and bobs your uncle. Idle speed appeared to have been set for automatic instead of manual transmission. Kept the potentiometer leads on and set it to 650 as it says in Haynes. Rechecked the timing and moved the distributor assembly till it was spot on 15 deg. Engine running much smo...

Not sure if anyone can help on here but strange problem regarding my oil levels. I have always checked my oil cold but during the last couple of weeks I have noticed the Oil level is way up on my dipstick (8.5cm). If I check the oil when hot it is just on the max mark of the dipstick. I was concerned it may be the DPF problem dumping diesel back in so I have spoken to a local garage who I know well. They suggested draining the oil and re-filling to the correct level (which they did free of charge I might add so no incentive for them to mis-advise me). They said the old oil looked good (only 6 mths old - and no sign of diesel in it) and I should monitor the levels for a short while before we establish if it is leaking seals etc.
The following day I checked my oil cold and it was 8.5cm up the dipstick again!!! Having browsed a few sites I notice a few comments stating I should only be checking the level when hot and 5 minutes or more after turning the engine off because the oil can get sucked back up the dipstick tube when cold. Can anyone advise if this is common with Zaffis and is this advice actually true? Isthis a potential problem for future as I have 6 months left on my warranty and don't want to leave it until it's too late.... Read more
No. I am wiping the stick and reinserting but every time when I read it cold it is 8.5 cm up the dipstick and when I read it as per the manual (operating temp with 5 minutes to settle) it is just below max where I would expect it.
Even after having an oil change to just below max it read 8.5 cm when cold the following morning.
