It seems from various media reports that Nissan is desperately trying to find a way out of financial disaster. Apparently Renault is thinking of pulling support, 9,000 jobs have been cut globally and its CEO has taken a big pay cut.

One further reason being cited is Nissan's failure to offer a decent range of hybrid vehicles. Read more

Two main dealers in Bradford - Mercedes and Audi - have recently closed (as well as smaller family owned main dealerships) and whilst in Wakefield at the weekend I noticed a couple of empty main dealer car showrooms. Some reasons I thought why this may be the case,

I’ve now had my SEAT Ibiza FR 1.0 TSi (115) for 5 years and 80,000 miles. I have owned it from new.... Read more

I like these, I think the 1.0 TSi FR Ibiza is a fantastic model. Well made, robust, good spec, good on fuel, a bit sporty to drive without rattling your fillings out over rough roads. It’s just one of those cars that’s just right from the off. That they’re popular with young drivers and affordable to insure means they’re an easy sell when you want rid of it too.

Overall, I think SEAT got most things right with this model.

Looks good, without looking aggressive. Good size. Right engine, Nice gearbox....

I looked at new cars recently and most of them are awful, unless you want something that runs on batteries. I want a small and simple petrol car, with manual transmission, and there are hardly any. Many of them are also ugly as they seem to be moving to a 'cross over' design ??. I don't actually want one now, but I'm worried that there won't be any remaining in a few years when I want one.

Ford is a good example. They stopped doing their KA, Fiesta, and Focus. They all have a good history, but they replaced them with an ugly Fusion.

The new version of my car is also awful IMO. It's 20% heavier, uglier, and bigger in every dimension, but feels cramped on the inside. It's also slower and uses more fuel ??

Is this the end of the road for good cars? I'm not touching an electric one until I feel confident that it won't burn my house down. Read more

I wonder if John F and movilogo have ever ridden a bike in a headwind, and you don't have to be going fast!

The drag coefficient of a bike rider fairly upright (not drooped over the handlebars) is ~1.0 - the same as a flat plate. By comparison a modern car is ~0.3. ...

I will be starting a new job in a few months time, and instead of commuting 10 miles south on the M5, I will be travelling 2 miles up the road. I would like my 2011 Mini convertible to have a bit of a rest and become a second car for days off and holidays.

So I am pondering a car for my short commute and local pottering. My budget is £6k. Something electric might be suitable as I have a big drive and can easily charge at home. ... Read more

So, After 3 years, would I buy another??

The answer would be yes.. subject to having a dealer less than 60 miles away, ( Prestons in Chelmsford were 20 0dd miles but now have nothing to do with Ssangyong ) but saying that have not needed for anything other than routine servicing and a recall, with the exception of a coil pack failure just after I bought it and a recall for a steering bracket check. Servicing in Wymondham now.... Read more
