The thing to look for on Toyota based models is double wishbone rear suspension, not all versions have it.

You need a vehicle built on the TNGA platform = Toyota New Global Architecture, so 4th Gen Prius from late 2015 onwards....

One of the most important computer processor designers ARM is from the UK - their designs are used in the majority of mobile phones/tablets in the world and are staring to appear in more laptops.

It is now owned by the Japanese - Softbank, who own 90%. It is largely an investor.

If you have resources, then you would get a mob attacking that vehicle and resources.

People may descend to cannibalism. The mob would have eaten the sheep farmer, so they would no one would be raising animals or growing crops.... No seed deliveries. No fertilisers etc...

Had the opportunity to sit in the new Renault 5 and it’s slightly bigger stablemate the R4 at the Airshow over the weekend. Renault really are on a roll at the moment, the 5 in particular is a lovely thing, only limited rear leg room and some poor quality exterior trim mark it down. The R4 is nice, but SWMBO didn’t approve. Not that I’d buy a new car anyway, electric or not, but a bright yellow R5 does really appeal to me.

But it's easy to compare costs for one particular journey, where any EV with available home charging will show a big advantage. My 17-year-old car is different kettle-o-fish - zero depreciation and no cash outlay for recent purchase !! You need to be a very frequent driver to make the savings balance the outlay !

Any 17 year old car will almost inevitably be ICE - unless you were the lucky owner of a Gwizz. Comparison with EV is pointless - despite close to zero depreciation....

Had 2 extended warranties in the past but both were manufacturers on new vehicles.

First was a 1996 Golf TDi. First diesel and first turbo so a little nervous about the 1 year warranty (normal at the time). Buy on delivery and years 2, 3, 4 and 5 were the same T & C's as the factory warranty. Seem to remember it was about £300 for those 4 extra years. Best part was if you never used the warranty you got the £300 back....

Just to say thank you and three cheers to John, the honest man himself.

I know this isn’t your site anymore but I post this in the hope that you might drop by occasionally.

All the best and happy motoring.

I will always be grateful to the man himself. Back in 1998 I started a business in car A/C and wrote to HJ offering some advice about a question he’d been asked earlier in the DT. He published my response, and my business went bananas. The phone rang off the hook for weeks, and I received so many emails I got a warning from my web/internet provider.

My first post here was early 2001, it seems from the archives.

We’ve become used to MG (part of SAIC) becoming established in the UK over the past few years, but they’re being followed by a stream of ‘new to us’ brands.

Omoda - Arrived just about a year ago.
Jaecoo - Arrived in January.
These two are part of Chery, a huge Chinese car maker, who, slightly confusingly, are also bringing Chery as a brand to the UK.
All three above will be sold from the same showrooms.

XPENG are strarting to make an impression, with some hugely favourable lease deals on their G6.

Changan, likewise, starting to build a dealership network.

Leapmotor - part venture with Stellantis, and sold from their sites.

Geely are already familiar as parent company of Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, etc, but they’re also bringing the Geely name in its own right to get UK.

Have I missed anyone?
