I've read that VW will be closing Heycar sometime this month. Will this be the end of this great website?

While off on a two week Med cruise I bought a car unseen that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. A friend contacted me for a bit of advice regarding a newer car for her 83yr old dad. He settled on a Kia Ceed 1.0 turbo (he’s not sure which spec) but when I was told he’d been offered £1,000 for the 2013 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi Zetec he’d had for the last 8yrs I quickly offered £1100 for it. It’s now sat on my drive awaiting my appraisal. Will report when I see it. If it’s as good as described it’ll do grand as a commuter for my work. Read more
back then .my 205 gld snapped the belt around 60,000 miles. peugeot replaced with rebuilt engine,ok ,but not as good. no service interval for replacement as you say
All this talk of Suzuki has made me think it might be time for an update.
I've had my Vitara for just over a year now. It's a 1.6 auto SX5 (the 'posh' one...) allgrip on an 18 plate... Read more
We’ve had our 2020 1.4 2WD Vitara for nearly two years. The 1.4 turbo is good, much more entertaining than our daughter’s previous 1.6. If you can resolve the belt/grass issue it might be worth considering a 1.4.
As for fuel consumption it’s around mid 40’s but that includes a fair bit of town driving. I reckon it’d be 50 plus in a run....
Evening all
Regular users of this forum will have noticed that every now and again I ask about a replacement for my trusted 2013 Honda Jazz. Its now 7 years since she arrived, and annual servicing along with a proactive attitude to MOT advisories and the sheer reliability of the brand have combined to ensure trouble free motoring. Just recently I drove 200 miles each way from North Wales to Somerset, and not a beat missed. However, she is getting a bit long in the tooth.... Read more
I think it's another case of having to put prejudice aside and just try it out.
Very much agree, a thorough test drive of every car in consideration to see if you like it. We all have driving styles, differing driving position/ seat requirements, ride quality/handling needs, buttons/ touch screen balance etc. And as for boot space.............
Why does something that is not particularly useful and (in Mrs F's case would probably never be called upon) create such a scary scenario when it fails? Yesterday when trundling along in her 2019 Peugeot 2008 at her usual cautious pace the dashboard suddenly launched into an alarming son et lumiere with beeps, red warning lights and STOP THE CAR.....take to a garage messages! Cue for rescue mission in trusty TR7. After inspecting the car and consulting Professor Google, it seems that the most likely cause is a failed wheel speed sensor which has caused the ABS light, the wheel brake pic, the skiddy line pic (ESP) the tyre pressure light and the spanner to appear. Assured her it was still perfectly safe to drive (thankfully the loud beeps stop after a bit) and booked into indy for diagnosis and repair next week. But I can well imagine a more cautious and less competent person calling for an expensive rescue and abandoning their plans for the day. Read more
My W211 E class kept throwing up a battery warning light which my auto electrician said was a faulty battery.
But replacing it and readings he took confirmed all ok. But the lights continued so a trip to the MB centre of knowledge at Rushden who has over 50 years experience in all things MB....
I vaguely remember a post on here documenting the problem with hybrid cars from Honda and Toyota refusing to start after being left unused for two or three days.
But Toyota dealers in particular identifying a flat auxiliary battery, recharging it and sending the customer on their way possibly for the fault to reoccur.... Read more

I got chucked out of there, perhaps edlithgow and I should start some type of club?
After Toyota/Lexus, Suzuki now offers 10 years warranty provided you get it serviced at main dealers.
Sounds great on the surface, but owners would likely pay a good deal more over that 7 year period for servicing,
10yrs, surely, at inflated dealer prices (see current thread about labour charges) and possibly unnecessary work, e.g. oil change after just a few thousand miles, and .... 'better change those pads and discs squire, they might not last till the next service....'. And I bet they will also charge full price for the annual MoT test, which duplicates much of the 'service' checking. I would lay odds that the cumulative effect will be at least £3K over and above the MoT costs....
Has there ever been greater fuel price disparity? According to 'petrolprices.com' this morning, at a nearby town Tesco, a few hundred yards from the busy A14, charges 124.9/l. Less than a mile away BP charges 141.9/l. Assuming the Tesco price is not a loss leader, the BP profit margin is huge! Read more

We’ve had an accident in the family wagon, a 2022 model in sliver. The rear nearside door was replaced and the rear nearside wing repaired and repainted. After a week I noticed that in certain sunlight the repaired section is a slightly shade of silver, more matt, than the original paintwork of the front door and wing. I’ve contacted my insurer and the repair company have asked me to bring the car in ( “ it might need a polish” ). I’m not keen on doing this as I would imagine they’ll do anything to avoid a respray and once they’ve got control of the car they can do what they like with their buffers, pads and heaven know what. I’m concerned that they may well degrade the original paint to match their repair. Has anybody had a similar experience? Any advice would be much appreciated. Read more
My body shop who I use regularly for minor repairs mixes the paint himself on site rather than buying from a paint supplier.
The results are very noticeable and they are able to match the paint to perfection....

Normally when there is an issue, it's the other way around. Adding the quote of your post above was not instant (as it should be), and I'm using Firefox (the legacy version for Win7/8 users that hasn't been updated for about a year or so). I'll add an edit below if my reply's upload was slower than usual or not....
