Renault Captur hybrid - any issues? - DieselMan1966

Hi all

I was looking at a Renault Captur Plug in Hybrid on line over the weekend, are they any good? Through the week I work a hybrid system whereby 2 days in the office a 25 mile round trip and the rest at home. So I think easly coverable in a PHEV as according to ZAPMAP they have around a 25 mile range and charging overnight would cost around £1

From what I can gather the main engine is the 1.6 unit as fitted to the Dacia and some of the older Renaults. Am I correct in thinking these have a timing chain and no turbo?

I have test drive one and was very pleasantly surprised. The gearbox is the best auto I've tried. Yes, it's an old Renault 1.6 in there. The only issue for me was that the boot is tiny (presumably filled with batteries).

Is this the same hybrid that you get in Dacia cars ? Sorry just read the first post -yes it is.

A friend of mine has bought a new Clio hybrid.

I have a 2024 Clio hybrid (not a plug in). Yes, the engine is a 1.6 four cylinder non turbo but the car is very quick with electrical assistance. Gear changes are smooth but the engine sometimes over revs when driving gently, possibly to keep the traction battery charged up. A plug in hybrid may operate differently though.
