The classic cause: a bootlight staying on when the boot is closed.

After a standard service the gear change was stiff. Very noticeable from before. I know that there wasn't anything in the service that needed attention to the gearbox. In the past I have experienced garages that have removed some parts and claimed that they came across a fault which needed repair at considerable expense. (this has been tried on with me twice in the past on different cars. One quite a large dealer, so from my experience I'm totally lacking trust in these people) The Yaris has over 100,000 miles on it and has been virtually fault free and provides 70MPG on a run.

I'm wondering if there is anything I can check to see if the garage has made a change in the hope that I'll sell it and buy another from them. Read more

We are in the market for a new or nearly new Ford S Max and hoping to get a good price for the older model as the new one is supposedly coming out soon this year.

I am not sure however when is a good time to get the discounts - would the dealers be discounting it already now (the formal announcement is not made yet) or after it's formally released? Drive the deal site offers a nearly £5K discount off the £25K Titanium list price. Also looked at a nearly new one with the 13 reg, price is £18K with the 5K mileage.... Read more

We had a 1.6 TDCi C Max for 5 years and believe me it was no road rocket. But compared to the 1.6 petrol we also tried it was positively fast.

Put either engine into the much bigger and heavier S Max and I dread to think what the performance (and real world economy) would be like.

I love jags, but if that is the interior of the new EX then they had better drop the price to £12,000 Read more

My Duster's paint started peeling from the top of the windscreen whilst using a jet wash (in France as it happens). On the negative side; there didn't appear to be any primer coat. On a positive note, the panel looks to be galvanised. The paint job is white; so I'll slap some touch up paint on it. I bought the car three and a half years ago. To be fair, there has been some communication from an outfit claiming to represent the manufacturer, I thought it was a scam. The main dealer didn't mention it (whilst happily accepting money for servicing) and that reinforced my view. Not long ago, a chap in a local Isle of Wight car park saw the paint missing from my roof panel and mentioned I should visit the main dealer. They didn't really want to know. The chap in reception sent me to the body shop, The chap in the body shop sent me to the on-site Dacia representative who pointed me back to Dacia (I can take a hint). Still good value compared with the rust buckets sold by all the manufacturers in the old days. However, Renault are going the right way to building a reputation like Lada and Skoda. You get what you pay for.

I also hope it will be a success as it will be built (and engineered) in the UK.

Although something with the design does not gel with me and I think theinterior is a let down especially after the success o fthe XF & XJ....

Waht would I do?

I'd have it replaced by an independant air con specialist. As the car is only 5 yrs old I'd have a new unit, if it were older I'd probably get a recon unit....
