We bought a 63 plate Fiesta at the end of last year.
My wife drives it and she noticed that when the warning light/chime for low fuel came on at around 50 miles left, the miles she continued to drive did not match the mileage countdown figures on the dial. I thought it might be the way she drove the car.... Read more
Hi, I've owned my 2.0ltr 05 plate 307cc for five days now. I bought privately :-(. When I got it home the engine management light came on and the screen says "anti pollution fault" now the airbag lights on showing "airbag fault", at this precise moment the car is in the garage because the roof is stuck half open saying "boot mechanism not locked". I'm beyond gutted :-( oh and it leaks when it rains too :-(. I only bought it because someone wrote my car off. Anyone have any ideas??? Read more
There's lots of advice on manually operating the roof on peugeotforums.com
Its also in the drivers handbook. I'm looking at it right now, page 116 ROOF EMERGENCY MODE...
I have a 2006 C220 CDi Sport Auto. The car has 111500 miles and I purchased it two weeks ago from a garage. Today after driving to my mums, the car was warmed up and I put my footdown on adual carriageway, first time Iv really had chance to do this. The car picked up well and it was only when I approached some traffic lights I noticed a fault.
As I pulled away from the lights, it felt like the car was stuck in 3rd gear and it wouldnt change up or down I also tried to press the Sport button but it remained in comfort. I got to my mums, switched it all off and then restarted it 5 mins later. I took the car for a drive and all was well once more.... Read more
I would not jump at a gearbox fault so soon. It could be an engine management problem.Any issue here can cause gearbox performance problems.
Hi I just thought Id post up about my 62 plate i10 which has let me down today with clutch failure . Its only done 15000 miles whilst driving home the clutch started to slip and I was struggling to make any momentum, I thought Id get home but I ened up aout 6miles from home at the side . Called the Hyundai breakdown who sent the RAC I waited for an hour, because the dealer was open they took the car there where theyve said they will look at it tomorrow and report back to me. Its still under warranty so it shouldnt be any cost to me.
15000 miles is ridiculously short for the life of a clutch, any other owners had similar problems ? Read more
This is very interesting. We took my wife's 63 plate i10 to the garage the day before yesterday, as there were small signs of a leak on the drive. I have just picked the car up (18000 miles on the clock). I was told that an input shaft seal had failed, causing a leak into the clutch, which they had replaced. Fortunately, it was all done under warranty, but in over 35 years of driving cars old and new, this is the first clutch replacement for either of us.
We are now wondering whether to get rid of the car before the 5 year warranty lapses , in case this is a design fault and happens again....
Hi,
I've been having a starting problem on my diesel Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 (08 reg, 64k) for a while now. I am not sure where the problem's roots lie, so will try to describe things in detail and hope for advice.
For some time after bying I started the car without waiting 10 sec for the glow plug light to go out. My mistake (first car; no diesel experience before). Corrected my mistake after some time, no warnings developed while I was starting incorrectly.
After some weeks the glow plug warning started flashing for about 15-20 sec after start, but starting was fine. Checked with a garage, they found code P0683 (pre-heat error) and said in most cases it's a harmless ECU error and I should not worry unless problems develop. Drove for 2 months with no problem.
Then starting became more difficult with colder weather: it took more time, there was more and more white smoke. Went to the garage again, they found same code P0683, and checked glow plugs. One plug was shorting internally and causing controller to overload and cut-out. When replacing the plug, one was snapped; one seized but working; two were replaced for new ones. I needed the car urgently so had to collect it from there.
Drove a couple of weeks on 3 plugs (2 new, one old). The car started great, but warning light continued. Same code (P0683).
I wanted to see the problem to the end, so a specialised engineer drilled out the broken plug and the seized one without removing the head; and put 2 new plugs in. All plugs have now been changed. All plugs checked for current and seem to be working correctly.
However, the problem with starting is back: it takes 10-15 sec of spinning to start (sometimes takes 2 attemts), and there is a cloud of white smoke when it finally fires off. Same warning flashes for about 20-30 sec after starting (P0683). Once or twice it started without smoke or spinning, but that is very rare. Once started, the car runs beautifully, no alien sound, full engine power.
Any ideas or advice?
My questions are along these lines:
1. I am surprised that before drilling the car started way better on three plugs than now on all four. Could this outcome be caused by some mistake in the drilling, say cylinders got affected? Or in that case symptoms would be more severe (loss of power, alien sound, etc.) Should I take it as a coincidence with some other problem getting worse?
2. If it's not the glow plugs, what could it be? Electrical? GPCM? The flashing glow plug light leads me to suspect something is still wrong there... What should I get checked next?... Read more
You won't need a new cylinder-it'll be a new head at least if not a whole engine!

Well, it's as you expected.
I took it to a local place, as I didn't have time to do it myself....
Hi Hoping someone can help me as I haven't had much luck with searching through the forum or the net.
My scenic dynamique 2004 won't start when I push the key card in and press the start button it sounds like it wants to start but nothing happens.
I changed the ignition coils and sparks plugs after a mechanic told me they were the problem but still it won't switch on! Also noticed while testing a few other parts that no fuel was getting to the engine it was dry as a bone!
After hours of searching the internet I am thinking it is maybe the fuel pump relay or the crank sensor.
I have cleaned the crank sensor which didn't work but I did notice it looks slight worn down so will buy another.
The problem I have is I can't locate the fuel pump relay I don't have a owners manual or Haynes book and can't find any info online either. I have tried to buy a replacement at my local auto centre but been told I need to remove the old relay for the part number.
Do you guys think it could be the fuel pump relay and if so where will I find it? Not very mechanically minded so easy instructions would be best! Ta

Hi sorry I've been a while for a while.
Since my last update I've changed the fuel pump relay and the crank sensor the car started fine drove for a few miles I stopped the car when I came back half hour later the car wouldn't start again.
There is no voltage at all to the fuel pump now.
I have noticed the immobiliser light flashes when I first get in the car but after I've tried to start the engine the immobiliser light stays on solid?
I haven't noticed if it normally does this when driving fine?
My daughter's Corsa D (2009) was inspected by a mechanic yesterday before its MOT on Saturday. He reported that the 'NSF/OSF top mounting is hanging off'. The car was recently repaired by a professional body shop (insurer appointed) for frontal damage (new bumper). Is this an MOT failure? Read more
Well, I still maintain that the 'play' would have been within acceptable tolerance (and there probably still is movement in the new mounts too) as the Corsa's, most Fords and VW's all have a similar design setup and the additional notes that are shown on the testing station computer when logging the test will say what the acceptable movement is.
There are several queries about this online, including this one from HJ :...

You are clearly very unlucky having had to make a warranty claim on at least 6 vehicles.
Not really, this is spanned on over 40 cars!
