Hi guys
I have a Peugeot 308 that showing up the engine management light most of the time , when this warning comes up it will also show me on the screen that anti pollution Faulty, after this warning comes up it will take like a heck up and straight away the car dies and lose all power and stop, so i have to parck it safely and try to start it again, it's dangerous and almost caused me to crash, the diagnostic showed the EGR valves are faulty at the garage , the recovery services diagnostic didn't show it at all and the car cuts off and behaves like there is no fuel in the car at all even it's half full, I did try to tap on the catalytic converter just incase it's clocked and it may solve the issue, I am not experience with this kind of faults , some mechanics said replacing EGR valves will solve the problem some said tap on the catalytic converter, but all agreed that they never heard of the car cut off completely and die when these warnings show of on the screen , basically no one gave me a final answer and they only guessing , if there is anyone who seen and fixed such a thing like my case please tell me where is the problem and what it need to be fixed.
You can contact me via my email if you know the solution for this problem please , my email is farashorani@yahoo.com . Sorry for my poor English, I tried to explain as much as I can, if any help or answer on this matter would be greatly appreciated . Read more
My wifes car loses coolant intermittantly, there are no sign of any leaks, no mayonnaise on the inside of the oil filler cap, oil level is stable and no water/steam coming out of the exhaust. I've had the system pressure checked and all was ok. Anyboby had similar and if so what was the cause? Read more
.... the temperature sensor was at fault, which in turn was not opening the electronic thermostat and hence the engine was overheating and blowing the water (in the form of steam) out of the expansion bottle.
.... just as a matter of interest is this engine (1.4, 90bhp petrol) used in any other cars? If so be advised as I have been told that this is not an uncommon failure.
If all these reasons for failure are 'not uncommon', why did the garage suggest the more expensive ones first, I wonder?
My Front tyres could do with a change soon. I'm attracted to the idea of All Season Tyres with winter straight ahead, and the level of road clearance and gritting locally frankly getting more tardy year on year.
As the rears are fine, and pennies being a bit tight ( as is storage space) I'm wandering if All season tyres could go on the front drive wheels and not on the back until they need replacing..?... Read more

So, I was coming down the A47 today, having a bit of a race with a focus, noticed that the car wasn't pulling as normal and it was struggling to reach 100!

Sounds like a big end to me, the screeching suggests an oil supply failure.
My 2009 semi automatic toyota, like several others mentioned has been 'jumping' from the drive mode into neutral for several weeks now, causing huge problems as i have broken down several times causing distress nd caused traffic problems as well as the unpredictable danger it poses to my safety and that of my family.... Try taking it to an auto transmission specialist and mention the actuator, They can give you a diagnosis and a quote. Might be cheaper to go for a second hand box
I hope somebody can help me with an ongoing problem with my car which has started intermittently losing power. It is a RENAULT MEGANE SCENIC 1.9 DCI Feb-2003- 52 PLATE and done 115,000 MILES.
The initial problem occurred about 4 months ago as I was going up a hill on the motorway. When I changed down from 5th to 4th to gain more speed whilst overtaking a lorry I had been stuck behind, the car lost all power , but didn’t stall and I immediately pulled over to the hard shoulder. The engine management light had come on but then went off and the car was still ticking over. Having checked everything looked okay under the bonnet and sounded normal, I re-joined the motorway and drove the remaining 90 miles without further problems. The next time it occurred was 4 months later on a hot day as I pulled away from a roundabout onto a dual carriageway. All power was lost as I accelerated up from 3rd to 4th gear. As soon as I took my foot off the accelerator the power came back. However, half a mile down the road as I accelerated a little more to overtake a vehicle, I again temporarily lost power. It recovered again and I drove the car to the garage without further incident. It has been there ever since as my ex-Renault mechanic hasn’t been able to find the cause. All the different parts mentioned below have been changed or checked.... Read more
Hi All,
Just to let you know got there in the end by taking it to Renault....
Hi can anyone help. I have 2000 fiesta endura e 1.3. Last week my at started overheating on m25. The car was not loosing water apart from what was been pushed out from waste bottle through the pressure build up. Had to call AA out and found that the fan was not kicking in. To keep me on the road he modified to wiring by bridging to the battery making it run permanently but was unsure what was causing the issue. He did state that the head gasket didn't seem to be a problem and water pump was not making any noises. The problem I now have is where do I start to try and get this fan working again. Any ideas would be gently appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi,
I am looking to buy a large comfortable high seating car and have been looking at cayenne, range rover or range rover sport. Budget is about 30,000. However, I drive only about 5 miles a day and about 4000 miles a year in total. I have a xf at present which is struggling with dpf issues. Porsche dealer said that cayenne diesels do not have dpf issues. Is that right? I am keen on range rover though and not sure whether to go for diesel or petrol.

I'd love to know why you restrict yourself to 5 miles a day, when you seem to be keen enough on cars to ask a question on this site, to want to spend £30k and to have a good idea of what type of car you want!!
Why not get a great car, and take a circular route home for 50 miles every so often!
I have a 2007 Mini Cooper 'S' which goes about 1000 to 1200 miles before the engine needs a one litre top of oil. I have heard this engine can use one litre of oil every 1200 miles is this correct? Read more
What a waste of time MINI customer service are, they told me to go to my local MINI garage , no comment about oil consumption , surely they are aware of the issue
Hi I have had the same issue, I took my 1.6L petrol 2009 peugeot 308 2009 plate to the dealership. The said It is the turbp so i got it replaced. Cost me around £1000 and it didnt solve the problem. I have taken it to a local garage they have put it on the diagnostics and have got some codes relating to cylinder misfires. They reckon it is the timing chain. He said the timing chain dictates when the engines valvues should open and close, hence the emission value isn't opening because the chain is taught so the emissions cannot escape (something along these lines). The anti polussion system faulty message is a real headache because I cannot drive the car due to the loss of power. Has anyone solves this porblem.
