Hello lovely people,

Just bought 2 year old Veloster - non turbo. Had previously done 6900 miles. I understand that these cars are not as fast as they look, but from start it is glacial. Today could not keep up with a nissan micra from lights.
Does it just need more running in, or has low millage meant a build up of something that needs flushing... Read more
Two turbos? don't blame you getting shot, thats usually the case with Fords fitted with Pugs 1.6D.
On the subject of lungs, have a quick dismantle of the air intake and check the air filter whilst in there (maybe blow down the air intake from the filter end with something), just to make sure something hasn't got sucked in and restricting breathing, might be a family of mice in there given the mileage.

If you had raised it during negotiations maybe they would have done something about it for you. Probably would not have been a new screen, maybe just a better repair.
If the repair would pass an MOT there is no point in trying the Sale of Goods Act etc. If the car works and will pass an MOT its fit for purpose. Simple as that.
Hi all. New to the forum and looking for a bit of advice before I pursue legal remedy for an ABS pump I had supplied and fitted by a local garage which turned out to be faulty. It's a fairly long story so please bear with me!
I noticed problems with the ABS system in my '04 Octavia at the start of last year. I took it to the main dealer who diagnosed a faulty pump, quoting me around £1500 for the repair. I shopped around for a better quote a garages I'd used previously and went with the best one I found.
The car went in and the pump was changed but unfortunately the problem remained. Diagnostics were unable to identify any further issue but the garage suggested they try a few other other things. More parts and labour later, still the original problem persisted and the bill now stood at over £1200. The only option remaining, according to the garage, was for them to take car off my hands, for "scrap", in lieu of payment. I politely declined and reluctantly settled the bill in full.
I took the car back home (Czech Republic) to an authorised Skoda mechanic along with the original diagnosis. There they replaced the pump again and lo and behold, problem solved! I informed the garage in the UK of the situation and asked for a refund, for the pump itself and additional work carried out as a result of them fitting a non-functional part. After much correspondence, they finally agreed to send the part back to their supplier for testing. Last week came word from their supplier that the waranty was not to be honored for the following reasons and that there was nothing more to be done (copy and pasted verbatim):
1. Part to replace faulty unit could have been done by dealership in Europe
2. Parts warranty cannot be done now as it is off vehicle & (name of supplier) can not authorise for electrical items
3. All warranty above £100 must be taken to relevant dealership.
Regardless, my agreement is with the garage who carried out the work, not their supplier and I believe they are liable under the CCA, as they sold me a non-functional unit. Of course, no one wants to accept responsbility but I am prepared to take pursue legal action as this has caused me a lot of time and money.... Read more
I fail to see how this issue relates to Czech law. The simple question is whether the part was faulty and accordingly whether the garage which installed itis liable under SOGA (the reference to CCA - consumer credit act? - seems to be wrong but could be relevant if a credit card was used).
hi, i was wondering if anybody could help me. i have a ford fiesta zetec 2005 and ive searched high and low for the radio code with no luck. the radio is a rds 4500 and the serial on the back is mo44876. it would be very much appreciated if somebody could help as my car is extremely boring with no music playing :(
I've had a look for this one and can't find it either. These people have got it;www.pumapeople.com/decode.php
I've got a problem with getting the mini into gear. It moves through the gears OK when the engine is off, but won't engage 1-4 when it's on. Reverse will engage with the engine on, but even with the clutch fully depressed it lurches backwards.
It's been OK up to now and it doesn't look like anything's leaked - there's no puddle of any type of fluid underneath and the engine/ underneath the bonnet looks clean.... Read more
Ha, you didn't need young Mr Tickle for the slave cyl.
Thanks for the update, glad the little motor's back to fine fettle....
3 weeks ago my C220 was serviced, including oil change & oil filter. Nothing out of the ordinary was found at the time. 2 days ago the car broke down when being driven at low speed, with a screeching noise, severe loss of power and firm brake pedal. There were no warning lights and there was no increase in operating temperature. The car was recovered by low loader to the garage that did the service. They stripped the vacuum pump and found it had little or no oil in it. Suspecting an oil pump problem they checked the oil filter. This had evidence of oil passing through but there was no debris found. They briefly cranked with the oil filter housing removed and no oil came through. They suspect failure of the oil pump and/or the oil pump drive system and advise probable major damage to engine / turbo / vacuum pump but say that the only way to confirm extent of damage would be a complete strip-down & rebuild which would cost thousands. Alternatives are to replace the engine with new / reconditioned / engine from crashed car with non-engine damage; again at a cost of thousands. Are these really the only options? Do Mercedes really build & sell cars with no oil pressure sensors to alert the driver to oil pump failure? Read more
Mileage is 127k. Some might consider that a lot but my previous 3 cars (Audi / VW) all sailed past 175k with no major problems. Irony is we went for this particular make & model because of its reputation for eating high mileages...

Just put Redex Fuel System Cleaner for petrol engines in a diesel car tank by mistake . Will this create any problem ? Read more
It won't hurt it. I used some petrol redex straight in a berlingo 1.9D after running issues. Filled the fuel filter with it. Certainly went better after.
Thank you for such a quick response. Very much appreciated.
