Hi

Im looking for some advice, Iam due to collect a new car in the next few weeks on a PCP purchase. Im awaiting a call from the dealer to confirm a delivery date, at which point I have to go down and sign - although I did sign some forms on the day (not sure what)... Read more

I'm not backtracking on the above but if there is any argument with the dealer get personal advice - start with CAB perhaps. I'm not a lawyer or an expert on consumer rights generally, but I know a fair amount about consumer credit.

There's a document here that includes the principles of the right of withrawal from a credit agreement - page 49 of the document/52 of the pdf is the relevant part. Normally it applies when the deal has been paid out to the dealer and you would have to pay the lender the full amount plus a bit of interest to exit the agreement. In your case it hasn't even been paid out so the lender would just cancel it if you have not had delivery - but if you have signed one CONTACT THE LENDER and clarify their position towards you....

Wow just seen the most dangerous stuff. Little old lady broken down in the inside lane. That lane no longer a hard shoulder recently been turned into a normal lane, and large HGV's wobbling all over the place and forced to change lane at short notice into the other lanes. Chaos everywhere. This is going to be a disaster.

If you've ever had a cambelt break at 70mph in lane 3 of a busy motorway, you'll know that getting to the hard shoulder or refuge isn't always possible

I have. M25, Clackett Lane approaching. I made it. Just. Pushed the car down the sliproad in to the services. I needed new trousers, they didn't have any.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this, although I have looked at this and other sites. I may be able to offer you a valuble solution to this difficult problem of warm starting.

I recently bought a 530d saloon with this affliction from a friend who has a garage. It had been standing for four years with this problem and what ever he tried failed. Cut a long story short(after all the forums I'd been on he tried everything suggested-still no joy!). But what he did find when he was in the car and everything was quiet is no fuel pump noise-not turning over with the ignition on. Ok, no big deal I hear you say, what new? The big difference is that there was no power to the pump(cause is suspected ECU not sending message to power the pump). He put a 12 volt feed from the battery to the pump and pow she fired up!! He tested this 30 times over a week to make sure, and road tested it. What he eventually did was to run a wire from the fuse box via the ignition switch to the pump. All working fine now.Hope this helps. ... Read more

Recent Mazda cars are very good - although reliability has slipped a little in the last few years.

In my opinion if Mazda could only shake up its lousy main dealer service/repair departments (in the UK) it would leave the competition standing. Read more

I've just taken my daughter off our car insurance and the administration fee was £26. I don't have any knowledge of the insurance industry but I find it difficult to believe that removing a driver incurs this level of cost to the insurer. If it was a bank fee I'd have no hesitation in quibbling.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Read more

And that's why they charge extras. Most people go for the cheapest so the companies have to reduce their prices so they look cheap online and then make their money for when people need to make changes....

The IQ was originally launched as Toyotas's premium offering in the city car segment - much in the same way as Fiat offer the 500 above the Panda, GM offer the Adam above the Aguila, etc.

The reasons for dropping the IQ from some European markets (including the UK) are various, but include the unfavourable exchange rate between the Yen and European currencies, which makes Japanese built cars expensive compared to European built cars, the fact that after six years in production the IQ was at the end of its production life, and that modifications to the IQ to comply with forthcoming EU legislation were too expensive for the sales volumes....

Hi there,

we have recently changed the head gasket on my car. We had the head skimmed and pressure tested and got the thumbs up. We put it all back together but now there is pressure building up in the water tank / we have checked all the pipes and the radiator. Changed the water pump etc so the only thing my mechanic can think is that the head gasket is on the wrong way round, is that possible? but it is not p***ing oil or anything like that, in fact it runs ok (not like we have been out in it, other than to take it for its MOT which it passed) the problem is that the water tank gets hot and starts bubbling over, like i said checked all the pipes, flushed it with a hose pipe etc but its like there is not enough pressure to send the water round. we are currently stripping down and checking the head gasket again but was wandering if anyone has had this problem before or knows of a solution :-)... I'd wait for it to get up to temperature and keep the cap on tight until it does. Had something similar on a Corsa I did recently, just got pressurised under the cap after a couple of minutes and haven't a clue why. I think it was just devoid of water and had some airlocks/whatever that were cleared when the stat opened. It took a few more litres of coolant after that!
