Drove my car the night before ok and in the morning the Immobilizer light was on with the dashboard road lights indicator flashing constantly and the wipers being active. I can hear the fuel pump priming, the engine turns over but it won't start because the injectors are disabled by the ecu.
I have replaced the complete set of identical ECU, BSI unit and lock and key with transponder and no joy, exactly the same symptoms.
ECU diagnostics check suggested the Comm 2000 unit could be at fault. I have changed this too but no change.
Fuses had been checked and ok. What is puzzling is the blinking of dashboard road light indicator and wipers moving which I cannot stop and when I put the ignition on, the immobilizer light is on.
Any ideas anyone? Everyone else advised me to ditch the old lady...shame as it is mechanically sound.
Thanks

It all depends how this "check for DPF removal" on MOT pans out. Luckily on many Pugs there's no pass-through pipe available and you have to open up the DPF and gut the insides before returning to the car - so if its just visually inspected then the tester will see it.

But a properly maintained car shouldn't have DPF problems. Over the course of its life its fractions of a penny per mile to run. It just has to be factored in as a part that needs replacing, just like a clutch or CAT....

The trouble with carbon build up is that carbon deposits are not soluble in water (or pretty much any other solvent including petrol). That's why it's such a pain to get rid of. The water trick will clean piston crowns and valves (basically from thermal shock causing differential expansion between the metal and the carbon causing it to spall off).

I've not really found the water trick very effective. Modern manifolds are designed for dry flow so most of the ingested water goes to only one or two cylinders-which is worse than cleaning none....

Hi all. Needing help. My civic has started being weird (so to speak).

Whilst accelerating if revs go to 4000rpm it will not go any more and splutters and wont accelerate any further. Any ideas or solving will be very welcome. Thanks in advance. Read more

The car had a new injector delivery pipe fitted in Oct 2012, I don't know if anything was done to the injectors but can't see any of them leaking. I had the fuel filter changed about 3 months ago but no improvement, maybe I could try a injector cleaner in the fuel tank? can you recommend a good cleaner? Also, you are not to far from where I live in Bacup, can you recomend a good diesel specialist that would be cheaper than a ford garage?

Please read my previous post on this but basically (Aug 2013-present) a knocking developed from what seemed to be my steering rack and over a long period (8 months) the tracking (nsf) would go out and pull to the left, so had the tracking reset a couple of times. February 2014 had a new rack fitted by my mechanic with a reconditioned one from Camberley Auto Factors plus near and o/side front lower ball joints and n/s/f shocker and then had the tracking reset. Kwick fit had problems getting the camber/toe and straight ahead adjustment s right. The knock from the new steering rack (or area) with is now worse, and my van still weaves/wanders a bit over bad road surfaces. It also has a tendancy to veer left mostly but sometimes right when coming to a gentle stop, depending on camber/road surface. There's also the same knocking when going over bump/potholes, that seems to be mostly induced from the n/s/f wheel area. Front end also seems to roll too much on cornering, and say if you go over speed humps when steering is in a turn right/left position. (ie - rocking from side to side) this can also cause the knocking.

April 1st 2014 - Went to a Citroen dealer today who checked it out and said I need a new rack, as they said the rack is what's knocking! I told them I'd only just had a new one fitted! Their diagnosis seems very odd to me, especially when the original rack which was replaced had nothing wrong with it.... Read more

If this is manual gearbox, then the only sensor I can think of ,located passenger side, low down!with a 3 pin connector, will be the reverse light / neutral gear position switch.it unscrews from the gearbox casing.
