Are we talking ignition timing or camshaft timing?Very unlikely to find any timing marks on a modern engine.

You could paint on your own timing marks,or to do the job properly get the correct cam locking and setting tools.

If this has a seperate belt for driving the exhaust camshaft then you need the correct tools for locking the shafts.

This is the twin belt like Railroad said, and yes, you will need the locking tool to hold the cams in position. The tool is this one :

No affiliation to me, just an example of what it looks like.

The 'mark' on the crank pulley is a slightly chamfered edge on the rear edge of one of the gear teeth which is set at the 1 O'clock position when number 1 cylinder is at TDC and is aligned to a cast mark on the engine, and the two cam timing pulley holes are lined up nearest to each other at the 3 O'clock for the inlet (left as you look at it) and 9 O'clock (for exhaust cam) positions.

A bit of advice, change the complete timing kit (tensioner and idler rollers) and also the water pump whilst you're there. Don't be tempted to try and save a few quid by just replacing the belt, it will cost you a lot more in the long run when (not if), something fails.
