Most cars now seem to come with either a default of super low profile tyres or an option of them. I for one prefer tall sidewall comfy ride types.
Am I alone in prefering a nice ride rather than wanting a set of Carlos Fandango's fitted?... Read more

Hi!

I have a 54 plate mg zt that has a broken bonnet release cable I need to get the bbonnet open to replace the cable...any suggestions would help Read more
I looked on mg rover forum but can only find their explanation about using the opening at the o/s/f wheel arch and pulling on both cables. Unfortunately I have only 1 cable on the car on the nearside the offside has come off completely so it won't budge. If I've missed it on the forum can you tell me what to search under. ... Thank you
- Anyone got any idea how to start fom cold or indeed any condition, its an electronic carb with cataliser
I doubt it has an electric carb.I think you will find it has single point fuel injection system with electronic ignition.the system can be analysed through the diagnostic connector for fault codes and live data.
Many thanks for prompt reply. You have given me constructive information that will allow me to feel more confident in booking it into a diagnostic centre. Will keep you in touch with any progress. Thanks again.
The radio reception on FM is occasionally poor on my 2003 A4. I understand that there is an aerial amplifier in the headlining near to the back screen, where the aerial is located .
Has any one undertaken a fix, which I understand involves undoing the headlining and clipping the unit together with some bulldog clips? This I understand improves the contact of the units inside the amplifier. I also need advise on removing and replacing the head lining.... Read more
If its a saloon, it failed on mine.
If I recall correctly its located above the rear screen, there is a small separate section of headlining at the back that just unclips, no need to take it all down....
I hope someone familiar with the 21st century can help me out. I have an ipod touch, not the latest, with my music library on it. I have an Arcam solo mini hifi. I can drive the hifi from the ipod using a cable from the headphone socket to an aux port on the hifi. Sound qulaity is first rate. I want to do this wirelessly. How?
I think i can buy a bluetooth dongle, plug it in to an aux port on the hifi, then enable bluetooth on the ipod, connect to the dongle, run the music app on the ipod, and bob's you uncle.
Have i got this right? Is this the best way? If so, are all bluetooth dongles good, or does output quality vary? If so, any recommendations?
Gosh this 21st century is complex ... I think I need a dummies guide to it. Read more
For what it is worth, I picked up an Apple airport express, and my ipod can now send music across wifi, and have it converted to an analogue output for the hifi to play. I cannot distinguish the sound from the direct analogue output from the ipod.
Hi guys,
I bought this code reader a few year ago and have used it several times to reset the MIL. I've used the OBD11 generic data embedded in the reader. I now have an airbag intermittent fault which I've been trying to sort out. However this particular reader does not have the specific Peugeot data embedded to enable me to read the airbag codes. When I bought it it came with the data for several makes including Peugeot on a CD together with a CD which is supposed to enable you to delete embedded data files that you don't require giving room to add files from the data CD which you do need. It's supposed to work with a PC running Windows but I haven't had any success with it. So the question is has anyone else out there managed to delete and add data to there Maxidiag EU702 code reader? If so what version of Windows did you use? I've been onto Autel but they're no help as they say they don't support this model nowadays. Read more
It could be the seat belt pre-tensioners - if they're faulty they'll also put on the warning light.
To save you some time and money in not throwing parts at the problem, it might be worth doing a Planet diagnostic, as that will tell you exactly which one is faulty. Dealers do them for around £80+VAT (although som might do it for £40 if they bill labour in half hour intervals). ...
I have a 53 plate tdci that has been spewing out thick black smoke whilst cold & although it starts it doesn't always accelerate. Once warm the car drives like a dream. I took it to a garage that specialises in diesels, injectors & pumps. They put it on a machine it said no faults, despite filling the workshop with smoke.
They then took the injectors off & tested them, 2 came back with a fault so they reconditioned them & cleaned the other 2, but this still hasn't fixed the problem& the bill currently stands at £500 plus vat & they don't know what it is but want to run more tests.... Read more
My 54 estate is a 2.2 with 150k miles on the clock does motorway commutes. It started to look like a comedy car when asked to increasethe revs. I had a metal blank fitted in the manifold to neutralise the egr, You may need help as this can causes a warning light to show but use a garage if in doubt.
This part is £4 on Ebay but my Ford garage charged £50 to complete the job....
It's the suspension setup, not the tyres. My wife's Corsa (pretty basic spec) has 185/70 R14. Not a low proifle thingy, if you ask me. And? Well, it barely makes it. It's just stiff and that's that. Now, my sister's Chevrolet Aveo (again pretty basic spec) with 195/55 R15, that's a different story. Nice, soft, wallowy suspension, much much much more comfortable that the Corsa's. Lower profile, but different setup, and that's the answer.
Or a Merc, E-class, model year 2005 or 2006, I guess with 225/55 R16. Again, much more comfy than a BMW 5 (previous model, so similar model year).
