I bought one of these a few months ago, but only got to using it yesterday. It cost me about £110, not peanuts, but not expensive. The video is very good, some glare from the sun, but nothing serious. It's very small and the build is decent enough, time will tell. The reason I bought the unit is that it is tiny. I am not sure if I will leave it in place when parked, as it can be seen from outside even though it is small. I might shove it in the glove box. What do other people do? How do people fix the cable in place?

I had two serious problems:... Read more

I use one of these too - I leave it in the car all the time, it's so small it is almost impossible to see from outside, even then the person looking must look hard to see it. It can be removed but I'd be worried the mounting would fail over time.

I have the unit without GPS. The video does not play on either of my WIN XP computers, but it played fine on my brother's PC running WIN 7....

Certainly shows you have to be careful these days!

Great idea, so long as you also outlaw passengers in the car as well. Obviously, if talking to someone is more dangerous than drink driving all cars should be single seater. Read more

Norman

Most passengers - especially those who do not drive regularly - have no idea what is going on outside of the car.

There is a tendency to look at the passenger from time to time when talking and we have all seen drivers facing backwards to admonish children in the back - or just to say something to them....

If it starts and runs ok,then you could be lucky.Fit the new hose and fill it with plain water initialy to make sure there is no further overheating or running issues. If it runs ok now, drain and refill with correct water antifreeze mix.,50/50.

Over pressurising of the water system is typically a blown head gasket.

When the car was in bits a flush of the radiator would have been sensible....

My husband was driving my car and I received notice of a parking fine yesterday. He was truly bewildered by accompanying photo, so we went to view the video.

The camera car had followed him along the road and took a picture of him as he pulled to the side of the road (next to double yellows), to let the traffic come past, before he parked his car on the street. The video shows him pulling to the side, with brake lights solidly on and about 3 seconds of him being "on" the yellow line. (he was actually going forward very slowly, but that isn't clear.)... Have a look at the throttle body and butterfly. if it's dirty give it a clean with carb cleaner. However, do not swamp the unit with cleaner, use a rag or old toothbrush and be sparing with the fluid.
