Having a petrol Car for quite a while now and family size increasing and plus extra weight in the car my ecomony is spiriling, nether had a diesel car, but offer a lot more torque and power these Skoda Fabia Scouts look ideal you can even pick one up around £7000 upwards have been looking at the 1.6 TDI CR diesel, but I do see mixed reviews that it actually doe's the M.P.G it states and considering the 1.9 TDI CR although the road tax is £100, Insurance to my surprise it's almost the same! Can anyone give me any advice on what to avoid in the diesel range or look for a particular reliable model, year etc. 1.4 TDI looks good, but doe's it have enough grunt? Read more

Buy cheap ! Never. Good quality bulb from a well known local motor factor.

The car is with Vauxhall and I suspect they caused the damage trying to remove a stuck injector. The bore looked ok when I insisted looking at what they were doing but the head was not there. They only want to change the damaged parts and I think it will cause problems in the future.

It is not the extra cost of the flywheel to worry about, it is the extra cost of the labour to do the job again. Find a good indie who will use quality parts and go that way. My taxi driver mate in wales had his done all in for £600ish.

whatever you do, let the fitter supply the bits, that way warranty labour charges are covered.

I have a Huundai i30 Diesel, 2010 model, it has been regulary serviced by the Hyundia dealer, in October 2013 and next service due in 12 months time.

I had my car in for it's annual MOT on 19th April 2014, and it passed it's test with a note that the rear brake pads were wearring thin. (3.5.1g) both sides... Read more

So you had your car MOT'd, got an advisory that the rear brake pads were low and then sent your son off on his holidays in it without having the brakes repaired???

I doubt that it will now be at the point where it has harmed the discs, but look at it this way - you've had 100% of your moneys worth out of those old rear pads!!!

Hi the engine warning light has been on , onthis car since new......warranties and services both with dealers and other garages have failed to find the cause of this......after the first couple of years i gave up trying to get them to turn it off......some tried and it would be off for the first 5 mins of me driving and then come on again. Ive had to tell garages not to investigate and my local one know not to spend the xtra money getting an electronics survey done as that has cost me money in the past with no successs.......any ideas as would love to sell it in the near future........ Some cars are like this, we've just sold out Outlander with its EML on, its been on (except for a few days when i turned the blighter off) for nearly every MOT, reading the Mitsi forum it appears to be the norm for all dealer supplied LPG converted Outlanders, turn it off its back on soon the LPG fires up.

I wouldn't worry about it, just state the truth on the advert or to a potential buyer, they will see from its MOT history that its been on for every MOT, the few people who will worry about it won't be serious buyers anyway, so it might actually save you having to deal with umpteen thousand muppets, you'll have the pleasure of warding off umpteen million scammers anyway.-.;)

My uncle cas a ancient Daewoo, it has done 500,000 miles and although the paint work is fading, it rattles and is ready for the scrape yard it is on its original engine and continues to pass its MOT although often needs work.

My 1.8 petrol Toyota Carina E 1997 is just coming up to 190,000. I use it every day for a 60 mile round trip commute, mainly motorway and A roads, max speed 75mph. Last tankful it gave me 45mpg. It's still on its original clutch and has no rust.

Anyone know which set of these I'd have to order when I'm ready to get them?

Would prefer these sort (to customise the engine compartment a bit with Blue leads) if possible, but of the many things searchable on the internet, these seem to be the hardest to find.... Read more

If you speak to Magnacor they will help ensure you get the right bits, they even sell direct.

Performance leads like these make no noticable difference compared to a set of OEM leads on an ordinary road car. Where they give benefit is when the car is used on trackdays, racing etc as the higher quality materials mean they perform at their peak level for longer at the higher temps encountered....
