Well i've made a slight mistake that has just cost me £30.
Had to get a brake caliper for the Mitsi we've just sold, searched around and the cheapest by a country mile was carparts4less on their ebay shop.... Read more
Yes, many items are exchange or a surcharge will be applied.
Did you know, by the way, that carparts4less are the same company as Euro Car Parts?...
All,
I was sold a lemon by a dealer a few days ago (please see general forum, which discusses my attempts to get a refund).... Read more
Under uk law if you own a vehicle you must insure it or sorn it leaving an unisured car on somebody elses premises is not such a good idea.
Not sure if the statistics agree but there do seem to be more vehicle fires these days.
However, it would be doubly unlucky if your car caught fire in the lion enclosure at Longleat:... Read more
Hi froggers!
Has anyone else had trouble with their cooling fans? Mine arent working the way they should and actually dont come on at all no matter what the water temperature is. I replaced the temp sensor which made no difference. When I unplug the temp sensor (brown plug) which is mounted beneath the fuel filter, the fans kick on at full speed at the same time so I know the fans work. Also, when I turn on the a/c the fans run at low speed but the car still gets hot on the freeway or going up hills.... Read more
The relays for the fans are located in a plastic box attached to the front of the cooling fan housing.these can suffer with rotten or corroded wiring. However if the fans work ok on full speed and ok when the ac is on,tends to suggest that the circuit could be ok.the fan circuit is fairly involved on these,as the ac an fan system is controlled by a small control unit located behind the left hand headlight, next to the fuse box.I think you need to check actual live data of coolant temp to verify if the system is overheating.
Changing the rear brake bulb today, the bulb dropped down into the innards of the brake cluster.
Tried to fish it out using a magnetic pickup tool, but the bulbs aren't magnetic!... Read more

Yes exactly, buyer's fees are relatively high and private buyers even get charged just to send off the registration document. I'd imagine that a lot of sellers only part with their car through We Buy Any Car as they have faults and it's an easy way to dispose of a troublesome car, so I'm not sure that cars from We Buy Any Car would be the safest of auction buys
Which is better (more reliable basically) - looking at buying used c.£5000, so c. 60,000 miles.

"Prob with the 1.9 tdi - I can't afford a post 2008, so would be stuck with the dodgy engines."
No - the VW Group 1.9s have always been OK as far as I know. The problem was with some examples of the pre-2008 2.0 PD diesel engines....
Hi, i had to get towed back the other night by the AA when my golf chose to spit its engine oil out every where. Got it home and found an oil switch on the oil filter housing was pumping out oil at a fair rate, changed the switch but have noticed i've also got a much slower but continuous (leaks when engine off) leak at the back of the engine (haven't located source yet).
Is it likely that something has caused these two leaks to happen as i find it unlikely that they both developed on the same journey? I would be very grateful for any ideas. ... Read more

I'm seeing a car that's had a rear end impact then had its roof and doors removed by the fire brigade no doubt to remove the occupants who "only suffered minor injuries".
The only crash damage I can see is to the O/S rear quarter....
