i have recently came across a problem and wondered if anybody have experianced the same thing?i purchased 2 new tyres, balanced and tracked, and away i go,not using the car that much just local stuff,i found that the tyres were not balanced right,i had them checked and found that they where not right, wobbling about,i spoke to the manager and he said it was company policy for me to purchase 2 more, they would send the the "faulty" ones back,if found to be not faulty i would have them back! now surly the tyres should be covered under the sales of goods act,and being faulty should be replaced by the dealer and i shouldnt have to worry about who pays for the faulty ones,is it me or what has happened to the cosumer rights? If you want a reliable diesel the Peugeot 406 2.0. Hdi is a super car, very reliable and nice to drive.

Having passed her test last month, my wife today had her first minor accident! Having driven to Drayton Manor and back with the boy she mis-judged the entrance to the driveway and dented and scraped the bumper on the wall. I suspect a new bumper will be needed as the dent is quite deep and the paintwork is cracked.

But it is only a minor ding! My first accident was much more embarrassing, involving a collision with a stationary police car in a car park! But I was only 18. It would be interesting to hear about other peoples first (hopefully that doesn't mean there have been many subsequent accidents!) dings after passing their tests. Or is there anyone who has never had even a minor scrape?

I haven't had any incidents for a few years, but I do drive very slowly these days, especially now that I am forty! My last ding was clipping a wing mirror in our first Doblo about 4 years ago, and the mirror completely shattered! Oh, and I did drive into a concrete bollard in a petrol station but we won't mention that! Read more

I was on my second car, about 1964, driving South down the A6 almost in Hazel Grove. I was trying my wings, so to speak, driving too close to the pedestrian reserves which were then in the centre of the road. The top of the kerbs were just about half way up the sills and I collected one with an almighty bang. The sill was scarred about two milimetres deep and repaired easily but, my pride and sensibility was scarred far deeper. I didn't do that again.

32 cars since 1979! I counted up and we've had 9 during that time :)

Some for both of us, but not many, and most were from dealerships i worked in in switzerland and therefore good discounts and sold at no loss after 6 months. Actually mostly cheap motoring!...

My partner bought a 2013 Polo about 9 months ago, the mileage of the car is now 7,000 - Last week she noticed a juddering when braking, i presume this suggests the front brake discs - unfortunately the warranty seems to cover the first 6,000 miles or first 6 months. Would i be correct in assuming its the brake discs? - it seems a bit strange that they need replaced after 7,000 miles, should she be taking care of the cost of this? i would have hoped that the dealer would recognise that 7,000 miles for changing brake discs isn't the norm. What sort of cost is she looking at ? Read more

Thats extremely low mileage unless someones really cooked the brakes and left their foot on the brake pedal as it cooled and transferred a patch of pad material to the disc, this does happen, as does salt corrosion on low mileage cars, though this has been a very mild winter with very little salt use.

Assuming the discs still look good, not scored badly and show only the slightest wear lip, i somehow doubt they need replacing, what i would do is remove the pads and examine them carefully...pads cannot be checked whilst in situ depite that being the normal way in service depts these days...and using a dial gauge check the disc run out, even turning the wheels by hand you will 'feel' and hear any high or grabbing spots....

I'm not talking Electric Handbrakes, but little things, individual to specific models that you might only find out after a decent test drive.

Example: I am currently overseas and driving a very nice, rented Hyundai i35. It's a saloon based upon the i30. I have two complaints. Firstly the centre air vents are too low and freeze your hands before they cool your face. Secondly, the headlights do not turn off when the ignition is turned off. You have to turn the lights off manually. But the dash goes dark first, so the lights can get left on. ... Read more

Black cars. I've had two, both Fords: one was unreliable and the other was achingly uncomfortable. They were also both horrendous to keep clean. Conversely, I really like white cars. They can be 'spot washed' and any sign of rust is easy to see and address. Whilst I'm on a rant, I'm also not keen on silver/grey cars that camouflage themselves into the road surface. I'm a fussy Old Hector...
