I must have overstayed my welcome at a Home Bargain car park in a very sleepy town in N Wales and three weeks later I have been issues with an £85 fine! (kindly reduced to £50 if I pay within the next 2 weeks!) I cannot understend how or why they (Private Eye) can charge that sum for half an hour. Can I follow the advise given on this site and offer them £10 as they have no legal right to demand such a sum. Please advise. Read more
Does anyone have experience of run flat tyre insurance?
I have had three new tyres this year, two due to punctures. Tyres cost £205 each fitted.
BMW offer £300 per claim for 5 tyres over 3 years for £409. Cover 50 percent if tread is less than 6mm.

I find the cost is always greater when purchasing a tyre in a distress situation, I've just replaced two tyres and benefited from the saving of shopping around in a planned way. In the end my local tyre fitter supplied and fitted the tyres, but on a price match basis thus supporing local business too.
Last time I had a flat tyre (07.30 am whist setting out for work) I put the spare on then got the puncture repaired at the weekend - I saved the tyre by NOT driving on it at all....
Here in N. America / Canada decent estates are like hen's teeth, pricey Germans and Swedes being the exceptions. Force fed a diet of blobby SUV's, CUV's and Crossovers (Nissan Joke anyone?) I am most envious of the selection available across the pond. Read more

I have been told by my Main Dealer that they won't even touch my car, in fact didn't even look at it, but told me to repair it it had to go on a jig and that it would cost a minimum of £700.00, and the only place that would do this is in Alperton. Once they start leaking stopping it is nigh on impossible. Our friends also had an Eos, it leaked from the first time it rained. Fixes worked for a time, but when they sold it it still leaked.
Opening the roof on any surface which isn't completely flat can cause problems, thats why it needs to be jigged, to ensure it is true while being worked on.
i recently stopped my car after seeing smoke billowing out of the back.

As PD states. Cases in the lower courts are not reported. As in the law reports such as All England Law Reports, where there are standards which apply. Therefore the finer details are not known.
Took my to a local garage as it was due for mot, I had a quick look noticed the brake pipes looked a bit corroded so pointed that out to them said I was in no hurry , two day later got a phone call saying it had passed but had to put a new exhaust as it had failed. I was fuming as the bill came to nearly £400. They said they tried once to contact me but I had no missed calls, they had to replace it as it fell off on the way to the test. Can anyone tell me where I stand as I cannot afford to pay the bill?

Or did you ask them to put through the test and replace parts it would fail on if so they did just that.
