Nope, never said I was technically proficient but it isn't the belts, it sounds like brakes that are binding.

The servicing could be questionable but the other makes on the fleet haven't aged anything like these 4.

Anyone know how to return the rear brake piston back into the caliper, it moved out easily using the brake pedal, I've tried squeezing with a g-clamp but no luck! Read more

I was wondering if it should be wound in as the face of the piston has a little notch on opposing sides, I'll look in the morning.

Hi all, I'm new to forums so please bear with me. My question is, I purchased a 52plate Citroen C3 last year. When I bought the C3 the speedometer said 33,088 and the seller advised me that this was not the correct reading as the speedometer had been replaced. I have been thinking about selling the car and decided to check previous MOTs online, I can see that on April 2009 the speedo read 59,506 and then on June 20010 the speedo reads 31,356. So I have established the speedometer must have been replaced in 2010. How do i work out the proper milage and will this affect the sale of my Citroen. I hope I have explained myself clearly. Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated Read more

Most modern cars with digital odometers store the mileage in the "speedo" and the engine management or body control ECUs, if you replace either, both mileages will usually synchronise to whatever is the higher mileage to prevent "clocking".

My service handbook says every 1000 miles, but I've seen a website suggest every 4 or 5 years.

It's a 2009 Polo Bluemotion (1.4 TDI) the 05-09 model and it's done 57000 miles now.... Read more

As the car is around the five year old mark, it should have the belt, tensioner and any idler rollers replaced for piece of mind. It's good practise / sense to get the coolant pump replaced too as it's not just the belt that deteriorates with age / mileage.

Even though the car hasn't covered the recommended mileage, it has reached the time limit for scheduled replacement and the £300 ish cost for replacement is a lot less than an engine rebuild or exchange engine if the worst happens and something on the timing side goes !

Just bought a used 2007 Yaris, the 1.3 petrol. It's not due a service for a while but I was just wondering where I'm going to get it serviced I've god an independant down the road that helped me out well when the altenatoron my VW polo packed up but I've never used the for service yet.

I have no idea if the Toyoa dealer will be expensive, though they are a bit out of my way. Read more

One thing I would add is to have a good look at the chassis rails under the floors, A friend of mine used to buy and sell MX5's and I saw alot with squashed up box sections from cars going over speed humps a bit quick.

I really liked them and they are an ideal, cheap, fun car.

hi

I recently broke down due to an overheating radiator. the reservoir was empty.
the garage replaced the heat exchanger at the back of the dashboard. This had been replaced last year when the air con failed and a leak could not be found. The whole system was replaced to repair the aircon.

Since the fix I have done a single motorway journey of 400 miles and the level of liguid in the radiator reservior has dropped from max to min with a drip under the wheel arch.

the garage seems to repair the radiator by replacing it without finding out what caused the leak. do you have any suggestions as to what caused the problem Read more

If you can see the water dripping it could be the water pump that's leaking but it could also be a leaking head gasket pressurising the cooling system and blowing coolant out of the filler cap/overflow pipe.

I have covered less than 10000 ten thousand miles from new. Just had service and been advised that rear brak pads are 90% worn but front are only 50% worn. ,--Never towed anything so why has this happened, surely the fronts should wear out before ther rear and surely not this much at this mileage. Your brake pads are not worn. Its just the garage trying it on....
