I own a Peugeot 306 , year 2001, 1.4 engine (petrol/gas). It was bought in El Salvador, Central America so the driver seat is on the left side. I want to replace the whole suspension and also the tie road assembly(both sides).

Some guy from a USA dealer has told me that the spare parts they offer were made for Euro market cars and wont fit on my 306 because of that. I don't believe this because it doesn't make sense that triangles and ball joints are different because of the driver location.... Read more

Hello guys,

I'm back again! I have taken my nitro 2.7crd to a Dodge specialist due to a non starter, they have plugged it in to there dodge diagnostics, reset all the modules etc and still no joy, only code they are receiving is the glow plug circuit which myself and garage feel wouldn't stop it from starting (especially after a long crank combined with warm weather). They feel the next step is removing the gearbox to check the gap between the crank shaft sensor - pick up ring and check everything is in line, this is because my own personal mechanic had initially taken the box off and installed new pick up ring, clutch, flywheel bolts etc, And although I bought it as a non runner it must have been running up until the flywheel bolts decided to snap!?

It's going to cost more £££ to remove the box and is not gaurenteed to solve it!

Is there any other things I should consider first, any common parts that fail and not show up on the diagnostics? Or is it very likely that something has been installed not quite in line by my mechanic when he reinstall the pick up ring, flywheel etc??

All suggestions greatly received

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. That is a very good suggestion on a diagnoses as before I took the truck to the specialist, I plugged my machine in for the live data and RPM cranking was not constantly at a certain rpm, it was very rapidly up and down, from for example 190-230rpm up and down, to the point where I had to roughly guess the max RPM. I never took much notice for that but now you mention, it seems like a rpm reading error due the crank sensor/ring? The crank sensor was replaced straight after funny enough as the crank shaft sensor code came on it which we initially thought was the cause but to no avail.

Maybe just have to have it remove to really see if there is anything wrong in the housing.

Cheers

Timing belt and water pump changed, now car will not start and lights, wipers and windows inoperative. Checked fuses and loose wiring and nothing wrong. Have had the car 2 weeks and now it is useless. Any idea what the problem could be? Read more

Its possible the BSI needs resetting. If the electrics were working before the cambelt was changed there's a good chance its lost its settings when the battery was disconnected.

Follow this link on how to reset it ...

HJ "The Pulsar is incredibly quiet and smooth, making it one of the most relaxed hatchbacks around. There's little in the way of sparkle from behind the wheel, but it's very comfortable with superb ride quality. It's a car that's effortless to drive and fuss-free to own. It also has acres of rear legroom - more than larger saloons like the BMW 3 Series."

Exactly what many people want, even though it only gets a rating of three.

I hit a parked car while reversing. The damage to the parked car is minor, a couple of scratches and a very small dent. The owner of the other vehicle is asking I contact my insurance company to make a claim. Can he insist I do this? I suspect it would be cheaper to settle the matter privately with him. Read more

In about 1983 I was hit at a junction from behind. Minimal damage. Chap was local and keen to sort without insurance. I got a price to fix it from a local garage, think it was about £70 for a new bumper and a bit of metal bashing and paint. Phoned him and the following day he dropped the cash off.

Move onto about 1998. Wife had just received a call saying her mother was in hospital with a suspected heart attack. At some temporary lights the van in front decided to reverse back since he had overshot the sign, He apologised saying he was "sorry luv, on the f***ing phone" he had never looked if anyone was behind. Car needed new bumper, paint and number plate. His employers were keen to settle without insurance (no damage to van) but it took 6 months of phone calls, letters etc....

I bought a fiat punto two days ago from a man who claimed it was a private sale.
It has now started leaking water and my garage said it needs a new head gasket.
I feel scammed.
The seller is a mechanic and told me he had bought the car from a friend who did not want to spend money on the MOT. He said he bought if from his friend and put it through its MOT to sell on. I met him at the garage he works at to buy the car.
I know if it is a private sale that I have no protection but I want to know if he was in fact a trader seeing as he was selling the car on to make a profit. Also his name was not on the v5 form and the yellow slip was missing.
My parents said I should ring him and demand he refund me or pay for the repairs but I'm not sure where I stand.

I know people will think it was silly that I bought the car in the first place but I don't have much experience and it wasn't until I got home that I realised it all seemed strange. Read more

"I know if it is a private sale that I have no protection"

Not true, it has to be "as described" e.g. If it says things like : excellent runner, no faults, as new condition - then the seller would find it difficult to counter a claim that it is not....

We used a Luton meet and greet valet parking at Luton airport recently. They took nearly an hour to return our car on what's promised as a 10 minute service. It was late at night and with 3 small kids in tow we got in and drove home immediately. I noticed new bad damage to my front bumper and light a couple of days later.

My insurance company phoned me a couple of days after that to tell me that the valet driver had crashed my car into another on the way to dropping my car back and the driver was looking to claim on my insurance as the valet parking company. When I described the new damage to my car, it matched completely to the report of the accident contact between the cars. Luton meet and greet haven't apologised at all and have been rude and unhelpful. They've drawn my attention to their (very long list) of t's &c's which state that they will only pay £100 max towards any accidents that they cause. Looks like my damage will cost aporox £1,500. Surely they must have insurance in place to pay for such an accident? What if they'd wriiten my car off, surely they need to cover damage costs.

I'm struggling to know what to do next, other than watchdog, small claims & internet reviews warning other drivers. Any legal advice would be much appreciated.
