The engine management light recently came, took it to the garage who said the engine was not reach the correct temperature and the particle filter was getting blocked. They said I needed a new stat which they fitted. Prior to this the temp was showing between 80 and 85, since fitting the new stat and despite doing some long journeys the temp does not get off 0 unless standing in traffic but as soon as I start moving it drops to 0 again, anyone get any ideas please Read more

Received a blatant call this morning (20th February) from the following number 0121 146 3212
The usual call features; "our records show you've been in an accident..."
She hung up when she didn't get the response she was after - which was polite. Read more
I got the same but on 01219926848 in April, they are changing their phone number ever month maybe.
I am getting organised and am just about to purchase some winter tyres. I've seen quite a few of both 'premium' and 'mid-range' offerings at varying prices but have seen a few mid range tyres (Uniroyal/Vredestein etc) where the date of manufacture of the tyre is 2011/12.
Is this an issue as they are significantly cheaper? I am also never quite sure whether 'premium' tyres are worth the premium price? I'd never buy budget or Chinese ditchfinders but the variance between mid-range and premium is oftem upwards of £30 per tyre.... Read more
Purely out of interest, seeing as we're talking tyres anyway, i ordered a set of Uniroyal Rainsport 3 summer tyres for the old Benz yesterday, the winter Nokians must be in line for their 5th or 6th shift this coming season, still got 5mm so maybe good for next year too, IMHO the Nokians are not as good as the Vreds were in cold wet or snow, but that was a different type of vehicle altogether.
The reason the Uniroyals have been ordered is that i conducted my own experiment last year, i've always avoided budget makes and seeing a set of Federal Formoza2 at a frankly ridiculously cheap price i decided to test my own prejudices just for the hell of it....

In 2007 I bought Mcgards from the Nissan dealer and they were cheaper than Halfords for the same part - only difference was the Nissan part # rather than McGards part #....
I have always rotated my wheels at around the 8000 mile mark to even out wear. It also gives me the chance to give the wheels a good clean while they are off. In the past, I have always had a spare wheel to help with this evolution. However, my current car has no spare, or jack come to that, just the tyre repair kit.
I have a trolley jack and stands so I can still do the job, however, it means having two corners of the car jacked up at the same time and if the rotation is done correctly, diagonally opposite corners, which I never like doing as it seems you are balancing the car across the chassis.
Anyway, I would be keen to hear other peoples comments on this and how many people actually rotate their wheels regularly.

"Strangeley enough, last time I changed my rear wheels, the chap at the garage would not have them balanced "because they are going to be fitted at the rear" (so balancing only needed for front wheels???). Goes to show how many different ideas exist on the subject."
I was told this once and discovered it was rubbish. The back end vibrated so much it gave my girlfriend at the time a cheap thrill. As soon as the rear wheels were balanced, the vibration disappeared....
Hello,
I've just bought a Mondeo with reversing camera and have noticed that the rear camera view displayed on the screen flickers and switches between a green screen, the radio display or map display.... Read more
Hi - just wondering if you go to the bottom of this? My 2012 Mondeo Estate is displaying exactly the same flickering problem with the reversing camera. Thanks, Nick
Hi all,
I'm looking for a reliable 2nd hand car of modest proportions but not too small. My Clio II Dci is starting to have problems and after the current major repairs (diesel pump, injectors, lines) after just 100,000kms, I really do not know whether to keep it or not. I had bought it new, and had expected much more from it, having had other reliable Renault cars before it (believe it or not!!).... Read more
Loads about, get a private warranty just in case on any car you buy.
Private warranty? May as well lay £200 on a 15-1 outsider.

Would that account for it getting near normal as soon as car is stopped? ...
