Hello!
I'm trying to figure out the benefit to the environment (if any) of buying a second hand diesel car over the same model with Petrol.... Read more
Hi, need to fit brushes to denso starter. Not done them before , how difficult a job is it ? I can get the starter off no problem just worried about it ending up in bits on the bench :)

More likely to be worn solenoid plunger and contacts.
Sorry I have two questions that I would like to ask:
A month ago,I reversed at the speed of 1-7 mph and mistakenly thought there was no car behind me so a last minute check on the interior mirror and before I know it I had to Sudden brake hard as there was actually a car parked behind and it was too late. We both got out to check the bumper and no visible damage. ... Read more
Because i tend to not drive on my brakes they don't get used hard normally, and they can get a bit glazed up if only applied gently continually so every once in a while i'll deliberately stop quickly (but not actually come to rest to prevent friction material transfer) from high speed to heat the discs right up.
Wishful thinking? once they've cooled down again the brakes always feel better for this....

Hi,
I Bought a Citroen C3 2002 1.4 with head gasket failure. The battery wasn't too clever when I bought it but during my time of repair it went flat.... Read more
Yes it ran fine, all electrics worked no problem. Looks like water damage from looking at the bsi unit with the covers off. Lexia was saying no comms from bsi unit regarding the radio and air con.
I have mamaged to get hold of an ecu set including bsi from a manual c3. Plugged it all in but the dash comes on straight away even without the key in, and won't detect the gearbox. But I managed to prove that the air con unit still functions, along with the radio and the dash....
Are high-tech cars putting off older customers because they're too complex to set up and use?
I'm in the market for a high-end SUV, so I've looked at Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Mercedes-Benz ML-class so far and have a few others to look at - but I'm totally lost with all this high-tech displays I don't understand and electronic gadget options that I've no idea if I need or not.... If we all took this attitude we would be still driving a horse and cart.
Lovely and quiet, clean air and plenty of manure for the allotment!...
I'm looking at buying a 2008 old shape 1.4 ibiza ecomotive with 35K on it.
I cant find if it has a dpf fitted before I travel to view the car. The showroom admitted it was in the garage for an engine light but declined to say which one it was...... Read more
It is a diesel and yes, it does have a DPF.
If as you say, you're only doing short journeys then it will start to have problems if it hasn't already what with the EML being on. The 1.4 diesel engine is not the most refined and can sound harsh what with being a 3 cylinder design. The positive side is the MPG and low TAX bracket but this, IMHO, is offset by it's lack of performance. It is quite sluggish as it's designed for economy, not speed and to get any meaningful 'go' out of it, you need to rev it thru the gears which will firstly, make more noise and secondly, use more fuel....
When I bought my 2007 Volvo C30 1.6d three years ago I thought I was buying a Volvo. How naïve. I did not know it was a Peugot engine - which I've recently heard has potential problems. Having just spent last year £1,000 on new DPF and last week £1,300 on new clutch, dmf and one wheel bearings I would prefer to keep the car a while. However, are there other possible expensive problems to avoid by changing cars ? Also is the S40 a complete Volvo - love the comfort ? Read more
Fully agree that if people are daft enough to pay it etc. Many Indys are much better both mechanically and value wise.
It seems to me that everything can have advantages and disadvantages : sometimes its just a matter of luck. Personally I don't pay main dealer prices unless its a job with no option....
I saw this today
Excessive speed kills. Speeding doesn't.
Nothing more than a little weasel word quip, and if you're going to be picky, speed doesn't kill, it's the rapid deceleration that does the damage.

they are even cleaning the streets to clear metal and rubber dust to help reduce pollution, the speed those machines travel the brushes cannot do their job properly
