Hey

I have a T reg Ford Fiesta and recently it has got stuck in reverse and first a couple of times, to get it out of gear you have to turn the engine off take it out of gear and then restart the car. It seems to be fine after that, it has only happened a couple of times and i'm not sure why. I really have no idea about cars. It is also hard to get into gear on occasion. This normally happens when you first set out and the engine is still cold. Read more

Sounds suspicously like a worn clutch not separating. Take to a garage for a verification

I have purchased a 2010 Mazda 3 MPS, i was thinking of buying a second hand set of wheels so i can put winter tyres on. Can anyone advise what wheels will fit my car. I have 18" alloys with 225/40-18 tyres on just now which is standard size. I see on ebay there is plenty 17" wheels for sale but i dont want to buy in case they dont fit. Any help greatly appreciated Read more

Don't forget this is a 260bhp car with bigger brakes than the lower powered jobs.

Unfortunately, dealers and manufacturers tend not to be very good at answering questions about this sort of thing. They might do a winter tyre/wheel package, at a price. bt's link looks very helpful....

I am greatly interested in buying an electric car, when I saw the offer of 7 days with a leaf I jumped at it, emails, phone calls, confirmations of id.....yesterday I went to collect it.

One hour later I was told the car had not been returned...we will keep you posted....24 hours later still no news....... Read more

So you pull in at the service station to charge up your Leaf. 8 hours to achieve this they say, so what do you do for 8 hours? I know, try to persuade the clampers that not being able to move off isn't your fault an tell them you are sorry to overstayed the allowed time at service stations.

No 'barney100' - luckily Nissan tell you that you can 'top up' your Nissan Leaf battery in just 30 minutes using their 'super fast charge' option and that this will give you up to 80% of your normal 'fully charged overnight' battery capacity and thus enable you to continue on your journey after 'an unhurried coffee and muffin' in the motorway cafe..

Dear John,
I purchased a second hand Fabia vrs in April this year from my local dealership. all was great until I'd got to July. High oil consumption, half litre top up every 400 miles on average. Notified garage about this, no response so I went in there and told them to look at it. I gave them the mileage at the point of having to top it up each time. They changed the hoses as part of the skoda recall on these cars and told me to go back for oil to be weighed after a specific amount of miles. Fair enough. WhenI went back they advised me that it needed a new engine. The new engine comes without a warranty apparently. However, I was led to believe that all this would be done as a gesture of goodwill from SKODA uk. The garage had advertised this car to me as having a years warranty and thought I'd be covered for that.
I parted with the best part of £10,000 to buy this car. Where do I stand? The dealership say it doesn't come with a warranty, Skoda uk have just advised that it does. Who do I believe?

Write to the dealer principal - recorded post. Inform them that you have requested these details as to what has been changed, they were supposed to be provided, but they have not been. You are now INSISTING on having these details. Inform them that if they do not provide the details, or an adequate reason as to why they are not providing them, then you will be taking this matter up with Skoda GB again.

Thanks for the reply.

I am guessing then that the addition of redex will only be a temporary fix then if it works at all....

I transferred my alligience to Moto GP some years ago and have never looked back.

No ship to shore radio - so it is up to the rider
No force tyre changes - to try and create some interest
No need for technical gimmicks (DRS etc) again to try and create some interest.

And on the plus, usually very close racing, with much overtaking, and only 45mins in length. And even better I'm off to the Spanish race in November : )...

I recently bought this car,2006 plate, full service history through ford dealers, bought it on the Friday and drove to Cornwall, did about 900 miles in the first week. All sees good BUT the engine is noisy, its like a loud vibration noise, mainly when i accelerate, then when i am at a steady speed seems to go ?? Could be an engine mounting issue as the engine twists when accelerating, could also be the exhaust touching the floor somewhere.

we are going to equip a pick up truck (Nissan z24-old model)with a diesel engine.there are two selection for us.a diesel engine 1.5 liter with maximum torque 200 n.m and a 2 liter engine 252 n.m.
car curb weight is 1550 kg ,gross weight 3500 kg.
current gasoline engine spec. 180 n.m and power :100 hp (just for information)
would you please help us which engine is suitable roughly?
keep in your mind that users of this car expect to load this car up to 2000 kg normally.(somehow like light truck).
we want to consider an diesel engine with two important outcome: 1)good performance and feeling in driving specially in low RPM 2)low fuel consumption

thanks in advanced

The bigger engine you can fit the better, you will pay little or no penalty in fuel consumption as the engine will be working less hard and thus running on a leaner mixture.

I was reversing out of my driveway and mounted on a kerb between the speed of 3-10 mph. I have done it a few times due to my brother who has passed his test parks quite close to me as the spaces are tight. I just bought this car a few months ago. The car has sport suspension and I am paranoid about it.

If you as a trader have enough spare time to prep every car before it goes on display, you may be missing trading opportunities. And you may have wasted time (and a bit of cash) on a car which doesn't sell......
