I bought a Citroen C4 1.6 HDi92 in France in 2008 (new). I now live in England and it seems I need a certificate of conformity to register my car in the UK. The car has been inspected by VOSA and so I now have an IAC Certificate but it doesn't give the CO2 emissions which are needed to get road tax. Any idea how I get a certificate of conformity that gives the CO2 emissions? Read more

I imported my Citroen from Spain last year, got my COC from a Citroen garage in Spain, just asked, it took two weeks and 95 euros.
Not sure if you will get one for a European car in UK.
It is a tedious process, with NOVA (notification of vehicle arrival) now part of the process, you also need a letter from a garage saying that you have altered h/lamps, rear dogs and rev lights and speedo etc.
It is apparently illegal to drive an EU registered car in UK on a UK licence, I have done it many times before and was unaware of the rule.
Best of luck

also check the axle oil too see if its turned silver ! the diff bearings fail and impregnate the oil with metal stopping the pick up sensor from working !

Quite like look of the Civic, probably the SE, but possibly the ES (with panoramic sunroof) if I can get one at a decent price and condition.

As this will be my first car, I was wondering if there's anything specific I need to look out for. Is high mileage a concern if there's a full service history? Any issues with the sunroof? Timing belt or chain?... Read more

I like panoramic roofs too and the Civic to my eyes is a good looking car. I had an 06 1.8 EX from new. I suspect I was unlucky and promlems will have sorted with time but, gearbox replaced at 12,000 miles. Wouldn't go into 2nd without graunching. Rear shocks leaked, microphone for hands free was set for LHD so never worked properly. Fuel filler cap jammed repeatedly. Engine gutless why I chose the petrol I will never know. Ride was good and seats very comfy though. Sold it after 18 months and in 30 years of driving is the most disappointing car I've owned, partly as I really like Honda as a company and had owned 3 Hondas before but haven't bought one since.

Can you not use something like a coat hanger and long screwdriver to pop the bonnet through the grille?

Then when the bonnet is up, swap the battery.

At work we recently took delivery of four out of twenty seven new euro 6 trucks. As well as the Adblue system they now have a exhaust catalyst regeneration system (dpf). Whilst driving one yesterday it started regeneratein and this is the first time I have had this as they have only covers 1500 miles and I drive different lorries all the time.

I knew it was regenerating as the light came up but I was entering the waste tipping site at the time so I switched the system off whilst tipping them turnd it back on again once I left the site. We have be told to do this by the people who came from mercedes-benzene uk who gave us some trying about the system. They say that it reaches temperatures of 750°c.... Read more

It turns out it was dirt that had got in to the exhaust filtration system. The mercedes technician blew it out with a airline and all was good again. So much for advances in technology.

Why delay the launch so much in Europe?!

I know car designs must evolve, but I'm not too keen on that trench throught the side of the car and door handles. Speaking of which, the rear door handle seems too high to use properly (but there are worse cases, of course)....
