Now don't take this too seriously...
Some years ago I seem to remember some motorcyclists in particular parking their bikes with parcel tape or similar over the numberplate so that it couldn't be read. And there was some question about whether a Traffic Warden was not legally allowed to tamper with the covering, and therefore couldn't write out a ticket.... Read more
Hi
Ive seen a car at Almondo Car Centre in Waltham Cross, but cant find any reviews good or bad on the internet, wondered if anyone had any experience or heard anything about them... Read more
Not sure, but time to close this thread I think.
For the last 15 years or more, I have always bought Saturday's DT, a big reason being the Motoring Section and in particular HJ's column.
As with everything, nothing stays the same forever, but has anyone else noticed the dilution of HJ's advice now mixed with other specialists? Maybe the number of questions coming in is reducing or so much has been said before?... Read more
Don't be surprised that his telegraph collumn made him a reasonable amount of money compared to this website, which gets its revenue from Ads alone. We're lucky not to have to pay to join - many magazines now (not necessarily motoring ones - more computers and suchlike) have started charging subs for website membership to (like the DT and other newspapers) offset the large reduction in print sales.
I am thinking of buying a BMW X3 diesel manuel up to 07 plate what are the problems
Thanks fourtrack Read more
I was quite keen on that exact model and I took a 07 for a text drive. I have to say I was a bit disappointed - the ride was hard and the steering felt anormally heavy at lower/parking speeds.
My wife test drove it as well and I think she was rather underwhelmed by the whole experience - in the end we kept our rav4 instead. I'd test drive an x5 next but they're out of my price range for the age/mileage I'd want
No imagination for the model name. www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/qoros/gq3/first-drive...w Read more
If this car is priced competitively, then it will sell. It needs to be sold at cost to gain market share and presence.

Yes it's the "diddy diesel of doom" the dreadful Fiat 1.3 litre 4 cylinder thing.
To be avoided at all costs.
I was coming up to this roundabout and when I was still turning I had hit a uneven road surface pothole which is highlighted in yellow, somehow the ride felt hard when going over it or I had went over it quite hard.
I am concerned of damaging the car tyre, steering wheel, suspension, shock absorbers or car mechanical components since it felt as if I went over it quite hard. The car drives straight and I checked the car tyres which is okay ... Read more
As skidpan says, it's NOT a sports car by any stretch of the imagination. It's just a Luke warm hatch which, just possibly, has aftermarket alloys (massively oversized for the car is the usual thing) and cheapo aftermarket lowering springs on the standard shock absorbers which are too low and too stiff.
This combination will cause a jarring ride on nearly all road surfaces and judging by the PIC of the 'pothole' (really, that's what you class as a pothole ?) the tyres and suspension must really be too hard to cope....
Hi Guys, i was having problems with my turbo, after some checking and plugging in the snap on machine it turns out that my DPF was so clogged up the turbo would not engage because the pressure was too high. I have managed to do a manual re-gen and clear the DPF out, the problem i am having is that the oil temp is saying minus 40. i think that because the ECU is getting the reading of minus 40 degrees the DPF will not re-generate its self. my first thought was that the oil temp gauge was faulty, but i cant seem to find where the oil temp gauge is. i thought it may have been in the oil pressure switch but that only has one wire from it which i think just tells the computer weather the switch is on or off. does anyone know where the oil temperature reading comes from? its a 2006 mazda 3 1.6 diesel. since changing the air flow sensor and cleaning the egr valve out and doing the DPF re-gen it is running alot better and the turbo is engaging as it should. i just dont want the DPF to clog up again so want to get this oil temp reading sorted.
Long story short, how does the car get the oil temp reading? ... Read more
Thanks for the suggestion, GB. I could do that, although I haven't up to now as some regular memebrs might get upset when they get the automatic Email saying that we've had to delete their post.
In the other thread I have given Ransomes Mower or whatever his name is one more chance, and deleted the links....
I was late for an appointment - dashed into the dentist and asked the junior to put 2 hours parking on my car and gave her £1 coin. She came back with my car keys and had put ticket on. When I had returned to the car (after dentist and shopping) I had a parking ticket - because the amount for 2 hours should have been £1.10p - as the machine did not give change (it said this on the meter) the girl did not realise the ticket was only for l hour not 2 hours as I wasn't given change I didn't realise it either. I explained all this and said I never knowingly park without paying , this was a genuine mistake - but they just said I should have known and read the meter instructions myself. In discussing this with others some said just do not pay and you will get 6 or 7 letters from debt collection agencies and eventually they will stop. Others say pay up or don't pay and go to court. The fine has already increased from £50 to £75 - with a threatening letter about bailiffs. In checking on line I found that I could appeal "if the penalty charge exceeded the amount applicable in the circumstances". Having, in error, paid £1 I have been fined £50 (now £75) for an underpayment of 10p !!
This has nothing to do with easing traffic conditions etc. -- it appears to me to besimply about raising revenue by denying my appeal -- and I thought the regulations explicitly forbid raising revenue...... Advice please as to what I should do ?... Read more

If it is a Council Park then 10 2 1 there will be a statutory Off road Parking Ordert to enforce infringements. Decision of LA sems a bit harsh but they are entitled to do so as rules were not followed, IF you feel lucky why not try an appeal to the Adjudicator with a statement from Dizzy. Nothing ventured nothging gained.?????...
Are you completely facing some difficulty with repaying the house bills ? Is the house owner putting so much tension on that you pay back the fees ? You find yourself reeling under the stress and should not have any kind of reference regarding the sources from that you will pay off the funds for the reason that you do not possess ready money in your palm .

ISTR that this was a London thing and that the lacuna which prevented Civil Enforcement Officers ticketing in these circs had been addressed.
Mercifully I'm no longer in London every day so am no in position to investigate.
