I agree with Mr E, but i'd have been 2T'ing and Miller'ing it from new anyway.

Might be inclined to sling a healthy double dose of Millers into the tank for the next few fill ups and see if there's any improvements over a couple of months before visiting the Diesel shop....

On holiday in France and a long way from home. Hot so used air con for 1st time in 3 years. stopped at lay by and noticed water (pure, no additives, I tasted it ) leaking from bulkhead area. checked hoses, all seems OK. Radiator level also OK. Continued journey, careful eye on temp guage and arrived 100kms later but now even further from home. Someone has suggested condensation.

Any ideas?... Read more

Probably a good idea to use the aircon a bit more frequently, HJ's oft-quoted warning is that the seals dry out if it isn't used.

That's nothing to do with your puddle of course, which is perfectly normal.

Hi
Please help, I've had no problems at all with our Clio until yesterday. I went to pick my son up, switched engine off and waited.

When he came out i pushed the unlock button but nothing happened, tried it a few times but still didn't work. I tried the key fob and that's not working altho it does light up on key. Nor is the inside light unless you switch it on manually, doesn't come on when door opens.

Went to start it and all it's doing is turning over, a couple of times it's tried starting but if you try the accelerator it just dies.

There is the electronics warning light on in dashboard but i think that goes on as you start it anyway. It's a box with a pointed line thro it and what looks like a loop the loop below

Has anyone got any ideas please? Really can't afford to get it towed and looked at by a garage.

Thank you Read more

Interface between the key and the immobiliser might be the issue. Daft as it might sound, it could just be a case of replacing the battery in the key fob.

Something similar happened on a car my father in law used to have and that cured it but don't take my word for it !

My Focus broke down tice over the weekend, the first time the diagnostics preformed by the AA showed up nothing but the fuel rail pressure was irratic. Took it into a garage on Saturday morning and they tole me taht the Crank Sensor was the problem and fixed it, happy day as that was cheap.

Completed over 400 miles in it and it cuts out at a red light. The AA diagnostics dis not show any codes up and my own device showed up nothing. Though the fuel rail pressure is now stuck at 600 Bar before its cranked. Anyone have any ideas just so I can start crying at the price to fix it again.... Read more

Well got some where to day have the fuel filter a positive supply of diesel and it run. So going to try change fuel filter if not might be a split in the pipe somewhere. Maybe it's always said that pressure

We are currently having quite a bit of work done at our mansion. Although a keen DIYer there are curtains works that I am not permitted to carry out. Any gas works and much electrical works have to be left to the professionals who have the necessary qualifications. For safety reasons I can fully see the logic of this even if many of the jobs I could have done myself. Similarly a structural engineer has been employed to work out the steel needed for the RSJs.
It then occurred to me that anyone can set themselves up a mechanic/garage without the slightest qualifications. OK so they couldn't carry out MOTs but they can replace brakes, steering and many other safety related parts.
Is it time for a compulsory recognised qualification to be introduced for car mechanics.
I can appreciate the uproar this may cause but.......... Read more

Reply late, but it's the BC's responsibility to test, but they can (and do) charge for it. The first time I did it, I tested it and gave the BC the test cert, they then issues a completion cert. They don't do that any more though, they've subbed out testing to an electrician, and you have to have it done by them.

Not sure which forum to post this on, so I'll post it in both.

I am 5 ft. (152cm) tall and have to drive a Toyota Avensis. Unfortunately, even with the seat as far forward as I can get it, I cannot work the clutch properly. Is it possible to move the seat further forward? Any other suggestions? Read more

LOL. There definitely needs to be a group for short people. They can petition for having cupboards lowered and things like that, so that we don't have to climb on the side when there isn't a stool to be found! Think you're right and a cushion is going to be able to work. Tried a rolled up pillow, and it seemed to do the job. Will find something the right size that I don't have to worry about sinking back into or comign unrolled.

Thanks for your help!

I bought a 2010 volvo c30 with 37k miles 2 months ago and It has broken down. On top of this it won't even start. I've been reading up on my rights and i have compiled an email ready to send to the dealer incase they try to fob me off.

I used to have s40 (basically same car). I had numerous electric glitches. I invested in a Volvo specific ppc diagnostic tool. It was very good and helped solve many problems without dealer visit. I got all the value back (and more) when I sold it too. Might be option if you keep car and get more issues. Volvo owners forum also helpful.
