I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions about this noise my car is making.
It's a loud vibrating/humming rumbling type noise which matches the speed. It's always there and louder the faster I'm driving. It's almost like a wheel is rubbing against something but I can't see any issues. ... Read more

Very popular in France, where it is regarded as a Renault owned brand. Although not as smartly finished internally as the most popular superminis, it is perfectly functional and hard wearing with plenty of space, good road manners and all at a budget price. However, it will not be selling for under £7000 - more likely £7.5 to £8k, which is in city car territory but still undercutting its supermini rivals.
Hey all,
I am after opinions on this motor please:

It ticks all the boxes for me, colour (grey or black), newer than a 60 plate with less than 20k miles.
i have been looking for about a month now and have put in offers on Mazda approved, and all i have been given is £500 off then shown the door - those cars have now been sold (removed from Autotrader and Mazda websites).
I put in an offer of £11k on a £12k one - i haven't even had a reply to that.
The Mondeo i looked at they would rather see it rust than sell it to me for £500 less; they have offered me £300 off and told me to do one!
My concern is i have been looking at Mazda Approved - this one isn't.
I am hoping to get the car for £14k. So, do you think a 61 plate Mazda 6 TS2 with 8k miles on it, non-approved, is worth £14k?

I could be wrong about this, but weren't the problems with "Mazda" diesels actually those sourced from a Ford-PSA joint ventue whilst Mazda was (mostly at least) owned by Ford. Not sure now about their current crop of diesel engines (especially the 1.6 - 2.0 ltr ones, likely to be newer variants of the original "bad" ones) though.
Glad I chose a 1.6 petrol for my Mazda3 instead of a diesel (I was tempted at the time) back in 2006 - many horror stories which will make Mazda's reputation for reliable cars suffer.
Hi guys,
I'm just after replacing the passenger door control module and I can't get any sign of life out of it. I presume I have to programme in it some way to link it to the car. My question is do I need tech 2, or is the cheaper and more readily available Opcom (or similar) software able to do this? (This is a new body shape Saab 93 btw)... Read more
Hi, I own a '97 Micra with 116k on the clock. Last week the pin holding the clutch cable snapped. The garage replaced that (and the water pump that was also leaking). Now the gears are intermittently sticking / refusing to going into the lower gears or move out of reverse. Some times it works perfectly, other times it refuses.
The bite point on the clutch is now at a different point than it used to be , and feels a lot lighter / more cushioned than it used to be. (not sure if that is just due to new cable though).
Any ideas? Is the clutch also likely to be knackered, or is it just an adjustment that the garage need to make?
Thanks in advance. Read more
Thanks, took it back to the garage and they did it for free. Now just hope the clutch lasts for a bit longer!
Last September I sold a 40 year old MG to a Frenchmen who told me he was taking the car to France. He was given all the documents ( including the V5 and all MOTs etc; the DVLA were happy he was given the V5.) I notified the DVLA of the sale and have the usual letter acknowledging that I no longer own the vehicle.
Now some 9 months on I've had an email from the buyer telling me that he's had the car in storage and that in order to get the vehicle registered in France he needs a copy of my passport. I've emailed back saying he's not getting copy for security reasons and I've had another email saying that without my help he cant get it registered.
I suspect some sort of scam here, has anybody had any experience of this sort of request? Read more
I've lived in France more than ten years and imported four vehicles from the UK. You do not need anything to do with the previous owner's passport.
Does anyone own a original i30? My car had a prang and a new bonnet has been fitted but there is no insulation on the new bonnet.
It is a diesel I believe that the diesels have some sort of insulation clipped to the back of the bonnet. If you could take a look and report back that would be great. Read more
Vauxhall Astra diesels have it, while petrol versions don't. It makes no difference whatsoever to the rattle, as you're about 3 feet away from it.
Maybe the bonnet panels resonate with the rattle. Then you could truly turn the radio off forever and drive a musical instrument. Never mind listening to the the car - the car speaks to you!...

Just had to replace the front tyres on the Golf, for the second time at 49k miles.
The tyres coming off were bald on the inside edges, but had about 2 mm on the outside.... Read more
Just to be correct, at 49k this was the end of the second pair of front tryes.
Also we have a VW Eos in the family that has been checked as having correct alignment, but suffers from wear on the inside of the rear tyres.
3 days ago I had 2 new tyres fitted to my focus, front passenger was worn to 2mm and rear drivers had sidewall damage, the new tyres were both put on the front axle and existing other 2 tyres on the rear (both have 5mm treat remaining). The car then developed a vibration/wobble through the steering wheel at speeds of 55-65 mph. I returned to the tyre centre and reported the problem, they checked the wheels and tyres and identified a flat spot in the front passenger alloy wheel, I bought a new alloy from the nearest Ford Dealer and had the new tyre put on this new rim. The wobble continued, I again returned to the tyre dealer and after one of the fitters came out in the car with me he checked all of the wheels for flat spots and the balance again 'on the finest setting and they are all now zero'. Despite this the vibration/wobble is still occurring at around 60mph. After spending £140 on 2 tyres, £180 on a new alloy wheel, £15 on the tyre fitting and almost 4 hours of my time I am very frustrated, have lost confidence with the tyre dealer and seem to be not much further forward. I would be grateful for any advice as to the cause of the wobble and what the solution may be.

No obvious play in the wheels, but I haven't done it before so might just not have spotted it.
I tried a temporary wheel on the one which doesn't match the tread of the rest.. noise still there....
