Hi all,
Planning on viewing and possibly buying a '55' VW golf 1.9 tdi tomorrow. Its got 104k on the clock, 1 owner FSH. Am I correct in thinking that this mileage is nothing for a diesel golf? Or are there potential issues at this mileage? Also, anyone reckon I'll still get the same fuel economy at this mileage as I would at less miles? Read more

i have a 2010 golf gt tsi, purchased in 2015 on 32,000 miles from the get go problem after problem after problem, to name a few ive had the timing chain go 3x, pistons had gone, instrument cluster went, battery went, spark plugs, coil packs, an engine control module costing £500, supercharger pulley, water pump, the flap for when supercharger switches to turbo broke, the alarm horn has gone, the air con broke, oh and vw has done a lot of the work on it only to get the car back with an oil leak that they caused and then took them 6 attempts to fix it, also had a leaky exhaust, oh and vw also put in an extra litre on oil in the engine which caused it to oil leak again, just owned the car for a year now and have had 17 problems with the car its on 43,000 now and it will be sold after the extended warranty is up next year, think you got problems i bet a set a record
I am getting fault codes on the dash of my Vauxhall meriva 2011. When I start the car its says Code 59 and the it changes to Code 60 and stays there. Is there any way I can find out what these are without going to Vauxhall? Read more
Fault codes can be found in your handbook.
I am thinking of buying a red VW Golf, but it will sit outside all the time and I am concerned that it is a colour that will not weather very well. Is that still a concern with modern paints? Read more
I have an 8 year old Nissan in bright non-metallic red which is washed once a year when it goes in for a service and has never been waxed.
The paint colour on all the metal parts is excellent, but some of the plastic parts have faded quite badly.
Hey guys. As the tittle states, I am looking for a fast, economical, sporty car for around £5000.
The car needs to be:... Read more
Thats what we all want, a w**** in the bedroom and a slave in the kitchen.
Daughter set on one of these. Why, you ask. Economy, price and occasionally, with 2 back seats out, for camping. The next bit is tricky - I've got to find one. About 5-9 years old. There are so many variations. Assuming 10-12 K miles annually, and a vehicle with 40 to 80K already on the clock, how do I compare 1.4, 1.6p, 1.6D, 1.9D and 2.0 D. And is a TD desirable .
Thank you for any help - am desperate to blame HJ if I get it wrong.... Read more
Our 2005 model has done 105k pretty well trouble free miles, certainly never let us down. First car I''ve owned that's got anywhere near that mileage and never been flatbacked home.

Hi,
I recently bought a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi (90) 2006 model with 71000 miles.... Read more
took the car into the garage today and it turned out that the injector had worked itself loose, enough to cause the spatter and the funny noise. the mechanic took it apart and cleaned everything up, free of charge too
it looked exactly like the pic from the link above, but appears to have been resolved, engine now sounds great, so hopefully that will be that....
I currently drive about 600 miles/week, and it looks like I will be doing so for a couple of years to come.
I'm currently running a 2006 Focus TDCi, which although fairly fuel-efficient (50+mpg), running from 60 to 150k miles has so far cost, apart from usual service, tyres etc:... Read more
Just got rid of a duff focus and got a Hyundai i30 1.6 CRDi. I do approx 1000 miles a week.
These are quite responsive engines getting 48 mpg can get better depends how heavy your right foot is. Premium trim is best, full leather heated seats and climate control.
I have recently purchased an MG TF, which had its head gasket replaced approx a year and a half ago, however the engine has started overheating and after getting my friend to have a look it appears the head gasket is going. I have enquired around as to prices for its repair in garages and have been quoted prices ranging from around £750-£1200! It also seems to be quite a long job. The previous owner did some research for me and has found a mobile MG specialist mechanic based in Derby but will come out to me and fix the car for me at my house. They have quoted me £325 for the work, and claim the job should take around 4 hours. I was just wondering if this was possible? As it is a lot better sounding money wise than the garages! But it seems too good to be true. Any information on others experiences is appreciated. Thanks! Read more
These are my worries. The mechanics come highly recommended on MG forums, and from speaking to them they have claimed a lot of garages will try to rip me off because of the type of car. As this is my first real problem with the car I am keen to learn as much as possible before going ahead with any work
Hi all,
This is my first post - I've not seen many posts relating to warranties so thought I'd share a very recent experience that has been incredibly bad and might serve as a warning to others considering an AA Warranty.... Read more
Me too! I also bought a 320i from Car Giant and was sold a useless warranty for nearly £800 - What a waste of paper!
Ive just been in touch with them over an EML light coming on and even though the salesman at Car Giant said all issues would be covered of course they are not......
I don't know, I'd have thought it more likely to be the previous owner(s) who, unlike you, didn't notice it drunk oil and kept letting it run too low, causing gradual damage every time....
