Hi I’ve got an 02 plate Renault traffic, when driving for airound 5/10 minutes withiut fail all the dash lights start lighting up 1 by 1 and the milage on digital display has gone, doesn’t affect the van when they come in but would like to get it sorted, also when I bought it the previous owner had a gearbox from an 08 plate put in it but doesn’t have the hole in the diff to put the vehicle speed sensor in? Do you know if the blanking plate is removable? Or is there anyway I can convert it to run off the abs system? And last thing as when accelerating as soon as you get to about 3000rpm it’s like it jams the brakes on and won’t rev over 3000 untill you change gear? I’m going away in it in 1 weeks time so need to get it sorted by then ideally, would be great if you can help!

DVLA beater!

When you sell your car the DVLA will now fine you if you do not inform them about it. This means that if the Royal Mail or the DVLA loose your returned slip from the log book you can expect a nice big fat fine! Hows that for a kick in the teeth? You can phone them and protest but this will achive nothing and if you dont pay up they will take you to court where you will face a £1000 fine plus costs if you loose.

This means that it is in the interest of the DVLA to loose as many of these returned slips as they can. They will bully you and you will feel you have no option but to pay up.... Read more

Have just been reduced to limp mode on my A4 due to 'particulate filter' needing changed! I have been gobsmacked to find out this will cost over £1000! I have also been told that i can get the fault taken off the car to return it to full power and then drive at high revs for a prolonged period to clear the filter? Does anyone have any opinion on this as i have also been told this could create a risk of fire! Appreciate any tips or advice to avoid paying a fortune on it! Read more

As above, looking at the E91 estate, probably around 90-100K mileage and 2006/2007 models. However, I know next to nothing about BMW diesels (coming from a VAG TDI background)! I've read briefly about with the issues of swirl flap failure and VANOS seal faliure on some BMW diesels - would the 2.0L diesel on this model suffer the same issues?

Any other issues to watch out/be aware of? Read more

Just worried and just need some advice.

Received a letter from the police about an incident a few days ago. The letter is entitled "requirement to provide name and address of driver section
172 road traffic act" and is saying that I have committed the following offences
es:Driving without due care, failure to stop and report a collision.

I am gutted as I am a very careful driver, driving for 11 years and never
had a single accident or speeding fine.

I was reversing out of my car parking space uphill at a very cramped car
park at a tesco express when I accidentally bumped the car parked behind me.

My sister in law, who was also parked in the car park, got out of her car to
see if there was any damage. She noticed a very small scratch on the car. I
decided to write a note with my contact details and place it on the windscreen
of the car, as there was no sign of the owner returning at that time.
Unfortunately i could not find a pen or paper to do that with?

I was parked diagonally in the middle at the car park and was blocking every
body coming in and everybody going out. There was a huge queue of cars going
up the hill trying to enter the car park. I decided to exit the car park an
d left my car parked outside on the road. I had to park on the yellow lines to do
this and left my hazard warning lights on. However I had my 12 month
d baby in the car with me who was screaming hungrily and so I could not safely
leave on his own for more than a couple of minutes. I went back into the car park to trying to decide what to do as I still haven't found a pen or paper. I spoke to my sister-in-law but she was now blocking everybody entering the car park as well (she had two toddlers in the back of her car so couldn't leave to get a pen and paper either). I was hoping the owner of the car would have come out of Tesco express by now but they hadn't and I had no idea what to do.
My baby at this point was screaming unconsolably in the car on the road outside, which was also blocking people from leaving the car park. The queue of cars trying to enter the car park now led right up to the top of the hill.
I simply could not leave my baby screaming in a car alone, parked on double yellow lines blocking people trying to get into the car park. I was very stressed but had no choice but to go back to my car and my baby, and drive away. There was nowhere nearby I could leave the car safely.

I am not the type of person to not leave a note but I wish to stress that this was an unusual situation. It was not an easy choice for me and I was deliberating what to do but in the circumstances the safest thing was to go back
to my car and baby.

I DID stop after I bumped the car, but there was only a certain amount of time
me I could wait safely, due to the reasons given above. Also, the scratch to
the other car was very minor indeed.

I didn't know about reporting to the police until I googled it later but by
his time too late as I got the letter :-(

Any advice on what I should do and what the likely outcome could be. Read more

I purchased an 09 1.8tdci focus last week from evans Halshaw with 33k on the clock. I have noticed that under light acceleration (more noticable at low revs) I get a slight bucking/juddering from the engine. This disappears if I change gear or accelerate heavily. It can happen in any gear but seems to be more noticable uphill. I am not getting any feedback through clutch so hoping it wont be the DMF and as there doesnt seem to be any lag or loss of power when accelerating I am hoping its not fuel injector or EGR. I just thought it wanted to get going but am now starting to think its not normal Read more

i currently has a couple of issues with my scenic and need a little advice really. while driving, the electrics all failed in the car for a matter or 10 seconds or so, the dash just wnet black bar the red led light, i lost steering, wipers lights etc. When they all came back in, there was a fault displayed, typre pressure sensor fault, but ive never had the sensors in the tyres since i purchased the car over 2 years ago. I stopped the car and started in again the errors all went and was fine for about another 15 miles, until it did the same again

I'm afraid its never been free, after the Watchdog expose customers had to pay £100 for the dash replacement. Its now £150. I know as ours was done last week.

Unfortunately there are other issues with this car which are also down to design faults that aren't covered by Renault Customer Services, eg the heater blower wiring burning out due to too much current going through a connector. I asked the garage to quote for getting ours fixed while it was in for the dash... £470.
