Any Help Please!! Apologies for a long entry but I wanted to give as much info as possible.

I've had the C5 for 2 years. It's been a good car. In France this year, during a particularly hot spell, the engine suddenly started hunting. One second at walking pace then suddenly a great burst of acceleration then slow again. The engine management light came on on the dash. The RAC arranged for it to go to a large Citroen dealer who diagnosed the problem as the accelerator pedal potentiometer and promptly changed the pedal. I picked the car up and the problem returned within 10 miles.... Read more

Trying toy help out a friend whos 03 reg, 1800 petrol,115000 mile Mondeo Graphite is giving him grief.

When he starts up and the engine is cold the car is running fine When the engine gets hot he starts to lose powerand the engine seems to stutter. He stops car swicthes off the engine starts up again and the engine runs fine for another few miles and then the same thing happens again. He was advised by his local garage to take it to a Main Ford dealer who would have the correct diagnostic equipment. All they could say was it may be the fuel filter which they changed. Needless to say on his way back home the problem re-occured.... Read more

The mirror has been pushed beyond it's limit by hand and the upper spring is detached (now removed) but I cannot see how to hook it back onto it's inside post. Also the outer shell has come away from it's matching black inner moulding and is very hard to push back. There does not seem to be anything broken and the electric adjustment still works. Help would be greatly appreciated. Read more

mfarrow thank you. One of the castings inside was broken so a replacement mirror complete was found at a breakers. For the record it looked almost impossible to reassemble the original - Whacko.

The summary headline seems a trifle dramatic to me; pre 2009 statistics for deaths were worse than those for  2011. This is another marketing department over emphasis head line! Read more

"Damaged car tyres are now killing more people than ever before, and the main causes of tyre damage are speed cushions and potholes."

So when I look at the table, the number of killed in 2011 should be higher than 2006. It is 16 lower - or 36%....

The car was examined by David Sewell, a Bugatti expert, who decided it was a replica made using a mixture of genuine and reproduction parts, including some from the Czaykowski vehicle.

Not quite a forgery the count had numerous spares enough to keep his car going in the event of failure of a part and I believe rebuilt his car on numerous occassions.Having said that 250k for a old banger is rather a lot of money in my book there is not such a thing as a good old car just old cars made to look good.Pile of useless metal when its brought down to reality.

I own a 133k mile Fiesta which has had an intermittent misfire / hesitation for as long as I can remember. Basically this occurs between 1800-3000rpm, usually in the higher gears 4th / 5th etc when running up a slight gradient or into a strong headwind. It's more likely to happen in damp weather. The mechanic I use says that he cannot find any error codes and cannot replicate the fault and until the engine management light comes on to just keep driving the car.

I have been told that some error codes remain in the memory and some don't. One final point - when the misfire / hesitation occurs the tacho twitches noticeably as if it is losing its pick up. I wonder if this and the fault are directly linked. It is a great little car, very reliable but I'll admit has not been serviced by Ford and therefore may have missed out on any software upgrades.... I have an anti hijicking system which cuts the fuel off after some time if u do not press the button and its working fine and it has been for the past year. I parked my ford for 5 weeks without starting it, when I came back I tried to start but it did not, I tried a few more times then it started the next day I had the same problem and then it started again, I drove for 200km and the car just stopped on the road. I tried starting it but I failed, some guy pointed out to me that when I turn the key on the should be fuel going to the objectors which did not happen when I turned my key on. He poured a little bit of fuel on the air intake and started the car and it started, this happened for a while then the car was able to start on its own for a while but now am having the same problem again and I took it in for diagnosis but all the workshops say they can't pick up the problem please help. I disable the anti hijack but the problem is still there, the one thing am sure of is that there is a problem with the flow of fuel

I have an Astravan,Dualfuel powered (factory fitted) that I purchased new in 2000. I have covered over 207,000 miles, mostly using LPG that I find quite a lot cheaper than using petrol. I get about 32MPG (always have) using LPG but I read on here and other forums that people seem to be getting in the region of 43mpg. I drive at a steady 55 or 60 mph and do not overload the vehicle so cannot understand why my consumption seems so high compared to others. Is my consumption poor or is it just that I bought the vehicle in the early days of LPG power and consumption was not so good then? Finally, is there any way to improve the consumption? Read more

32mpg sounds great for an astra van loaded up.

Have you had many problems with the LPG system? Has it proven reliable? Expensive to service?

Having a discussion with my friendly local dealer last night after I took him two colleagues who both bought cars on my recommendation, and they have considered trading out every diesel car brought in as a PX if it is not sold and previously serviced by them.

Must admit, have chickened out and sold my 3 and a bit year old dpf/dmf fitted diesel, beforeencountering problems, but got fed up of the regualr expensive additional oil and filter changes. Read more

Hi my daughter set off on a shopping trip and the car broke down. She was in the middle of nowhere an hour away and i found and telephoned the nearest garage for pick up. They said it was irrepairable as the gasket had blown and not worth the costs but that i should get about £120 scrap and £20 deducted for truck pickup leaving me £100ish.

I received a cheque for £50 yesterday, telephoned the car breakers to find out how much they purchased the car for and they informed me the guy who picked up and bought the car was on holiday and no amount was placed int he book next to the reg. How convenient.... Read more
