If anyone is interested, Euro Car Parts have an offer on until 30th September. I've just ordered 5 litres of 10w-40 semi synthetic and a Bosch oil filter for £13.79 with free delivery. There's a promo code if you take a look on their website. Read more
It seems there's nearly always a 30% - 35% discount available... buying from ECP at full price you'd feel a bit like the guy who bought a DFS sofa when there wasn't a sale on. I'd prefer permanently low prices meself....
A couple of months ago I had window tints fitted to my Focus. Despite doing a lot of research in to finding a reputable place to carry out the work, it has not gone well!! The job they did wasn't great and following a complaint to the service manager they quickly arranged to completely do the whole job again. Second time around things went better, thankfully. That was until this week when I had to use the rear demister for the first time since before having the tints fitted. I found 9 of the element bars weren't working and on close inspection I saw breaks in the element. What I think has happened is that when they removed the first set of tints to replace them, it's pulled off bits of the element with it. Total nightmare. I now have the task of re-engaging with the place that carried out the work several months ago and telling them I now have another issue that needs fixing. Ultimately I need to repair the elements or replace the window. If I repair it I can't do a thing without getting the tints removed first, and replaced again afterwards. I've been looking at how I could repair it and found a few kits online, and at halfords, that are basically a conductive gel which I assume hardens.
I'm really looking for any advise on whether anyone has used these gels with any degree of success, or should I simply be looking to replace the glass?
Thanks. Read more
Thanks for the reply.
What a nightmare. I'm going to see how much I can get a rear windscreen for from a breaker and check out cost of fitting. Maybe it's one I can get the tinting place to cover, as ultimately it's their fault. Might end up getting a bit legal.
The standard radio supplied with my 2007 Note SE is very poor quality as far as radio reception is concerned. It falls well short of the radio that was in my part exd Vauxhall Agila.
We live in a very poor radio reception and can anyone suggest economically how I can upgrade the radio to improve the reception. I am aware that manufacturers obviously install better quality radios with higher speced models but the SE with Nissan does not appear to have a very good radio. I also found a similar problem with a Tino Se that I owned.... Read more
Hi! I'm in need of replacement parts for the high and low pressure pipes into the air-con unit (underneath the car). My garage just has no luck in finding any. Any out there, preferably new?
Many thanks... Read more
Just find an air con specialist, they can fabricate pipes to fit and connect.
I know because i used to fabricate alloy air con pipes myself for cars as replacements are so expensive from the manufacturer.
I was involved in an accident on Friday. A car pulled out of a junction and crashed into the rear of my elderly but reliable and much loved Corolla. The car suffered a dented bumber and a fairly minor bumpt to the side
The driver admitted fault at the roadside and phoned her insurance company to admit fault. Her insurers contacted me and told me that they would send out an assesor. The assesor arrived and after making his report, the repairers told me that it is a 'total write off.' despite the damage being fairly minor.... Read more
Are you suggesting he should do so?
Recently had a Dual Mass and clutch change. I am now experiencing a Vibration and judder whilst engaging the clutch in first gear and reverse only whilst pulling away. otherwise the car engages all other gears fine. It seems to do this when it first engages. Would anyone have any ideas what could be causing or have experienced same.
Many Thanks Read more

I've had a problem with the lighting in my bathroom. I opened up a box in the loft that houses the wiring to the lighting and extractor fan.
There are three fuses which are rated at 10 amps. Went to Wickes today, they only sell 3,5,13 amp. Is this 10 amp no longer used, or will I get it from an electrivcal shop. If not used anymore, what can I replace them with. Read more
Have any animals been having a nibble on the cable?
You really need to do an R1+R2 test on the cable and then stick 500V down it (Insulation resistance test) to check the conductors and insulation respectively. Disconnect the fan and transformers first!...
Hi
I have just bought a Ford KA for my daughters first car and it has developed a squeal, I sprayed WD40 on the auxiliary belt and in the general area and the squeal stopped for a time but then came back the next time we started the car.
Looking on different forums I see the auxiliary belt squeal has been discussed at length, so following the advice I took the car to a local garage I always use and have never let me down in the past, they changed the auxiliary belt but the noise continued, they took it back in and replaced the tensioner and another pulley but again the squeal has continued.
They are now saying it could be the alternator or water pump but obviously I don't want to change both of these if it is only one, is there a way of narrowing this down or isolating one of them to see if the squeal is still there.
Any help will be appreciated with this as my daughter doesn't want to drive it with the squeal, I told her to get used to the joys of motoring.
Thanks Read more
Water pumps on these are relatively cheap and easy to replace. I'd do that first. If it was the alternator I'd expect it to make noises too, not just the belt.

Cor, 'the fabric roof lower in just 12 seconds and works at up to 30mpg'. That's an expensive motor to drop the roof...
