Have had this problem before in june and managed to sort it by fitting the following...new coil, ign module, dist cap, rotor arm, vac pipes, and fuel pump. Last week the problem returned and i urgently need to get the car back on the road. It starts first turn of the key every timeticks over and warms up fine, while stationary will rev fine, but as soon as you put it in gear and lift the clutch it stutters and loses power, though it doesnt completely cut out. I tested the coil as per instructions in the haynes manual and the readings were nowhere near the ohms ranges stated in the manual, could it be the coil again?

All advice much appreciated.... Read more

In the days of old fashioned ignition systems this usually indicated failure of the little condenser next to the contact breaker. By 1988 the system usually had an electronic pack feeding the coil which could have a component failed giving this same effect, worth checking that. ...

As an owner of a 2011 Santa Fe I was interested to see a road test of it here on HJ. It reads to me like a reprint of the press pack given to HJ by Hyundai. I was tempted to try the 2011 Santa Fe following the road test and video here and ended up buying it. I don't see the point of just reproducing the manufacturer's text and labelling it a review or even more misleadingly a road test. Read more

Lexia -planet is the name Peugeot give to their own dignostic system. It is not a protocol.A 406 diesel of this age is not obd 2 compliant and will need a tester that has Iso protocol.(this is the address system so that the tester can "talk").hth

Hello

I recently purchase a 3 month old Ford Fiesta with less than 400 miles on the clock. It was from a non-franchised dealer. In the showroom there were a number of posters on the wall that said if the car they sold only had one car key then that is all they could supply. Because of those posters I specifically asked whether the car I finally decided upon had 2 keys and the salesman said yes. I then paid a deposit.... Read more

I think you are being entirely reasonable. Beside the principle of a contract, the salesmans' statement and the £50 (presumably a goodwill gesture) you should not be happy about another car key not in your possession. If the car was stolen and it was not broken into then your insurance may refuse to compensate due to contributory negligence. Visit the dealer and insist on speaking to the principal. Ask him for the spare key to his car so you can keep it, I expect that might get your point home as to how important this is. If you get no joy then take the advice of tonyg. Buy another key and sue the dealer through the small claims court for that plus all court costs. Good luck and let us know the outcome. Concrete

Has anyone else had a problem with this ? I checked the coolant level, it's ok, removed the plug from the reservoir and put it back in, and the little red light is still flashing.

I think it's still safe to drive as I drove about 5 miles (within city limits) and the engine didn't go anywhere near the overheat red area. Have no ideea how to solve this, and I've got a 200 mile trip coming up on monday. Read more

Thanks for the reply, I had no ideea how the thing worked.

Started the engine today and it doesn't do it anymore. Must be some sort of an error. I'll keep an eye on it anyway, and thanks for the reply!

The tax disc is your/ your partners property. Download the refund form from the DVLA website & attach the tax disc & send off. You will need to get it into the post before 1st of Oct or you will loose a months refund. Can only get a refund on a yearly disc I think.

Have a problem with a slight weep on one of the PAS pipes which is being fixed next week, but in the meantime have topped up the reservoir with half a litre of LDS fluid but there does not appear to be a Max or Min mark in the neck of the reservoir. I have just topped up and brought the level to the base of the small well or neck of the reservoir. Is this okay and or should I leave room for any expansion of the fluid during driving?

Can the steering be operated without the PAS i.e if the fluid drains completely? ... Read more

Hello folks.

Question about the above again. Sometimes when cruising at just above 2000 rpm (around 55mph), i notice a slight juddering on the motorway. Which then disappears . It sometimes gomes back again during the same conditions. The time elapsed during all this is typically 5-10 minutes. Is this the DPF regenerating? At the moment I don't do much mileage - am averaging 500 miles a month on the motorway only, driving once a week.... Read more
