Please can anyone let me have their opinion of which one of these would be the better buy. I need a car with decent boot space but must have low lip / floor level with lip. Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated. Comments about reliability also welcome. Thank you. Read more

Thanks for your answer. I was intending to buy one about a year old. I am definitely edging towards the SEAT, still can't lose the niggling worry about French car reliability which is why I discounted the Clio estate. Renault seem to have an even less reliable reputation than Peugot.

Hi have just read your item on Wed 5 Aug 2009 05:09  UKPC parking Services Fine - Honestjohn

I was sent a charge notice for parking at a McDonalds in Skegness it was my wife driving , I sent this reply by iPad have I done wrong and ware do I go from here?

To uk parking control ltd

I am writing to concerning charge notice I received on the 25th April 2012.

I visited the McDonald's restaurant in Skegness with my two children and disabled mother, the weather was appalling with very heavy rain and gales, we rushed from the car into the restaurant with speed hence we did not notice the signs that advised the two hour parking rule. We were in the restaurant eating and chatting with the staff at no time did any of them advise us about the parking timeframe.

With this in mind I was hoping you could waiver the charge, it is not my intention to duck out of this charge however considering the circumstances on this occasion I feel the situation deserves some leniency. We were only six minutes over the time allowance and the car park was very quiet due to the poor weather so we weren't stopping anyone else from using the car park and were using the facilities there.

Kind regards

I put my wife name here

Please help

Kind regards

I changed my car a year ago, but failed to spot the problems which can arise when insurance and road tax need renewing around the same time – in my case, the 28th for insurance and 30th for road tax. ... Read more

Hi all,

I've bought a second hand Focus that squeals on start-up; it's only for a couple of seconds and then the car is silent and normal (and if you re-start whilst it's warm it won't make any noise) - the garage I bought it from suggests that once it's had a good run it should stop doing this; but I just wanted to double check that this is probably the case - it passed it's MOT before the sale so all should be fine, in theory? ... If the auxiliary belt which drives the alternator is worn then an 'Italian Tune-up' is the WORSE thing you can do cus the belt is more likely to suddenly disintegrate & snap and then you'll be stuffed. Best to get the belt changed ASAP.

I have read that the Nissan Note is due to be replaced next year. If I hang on does that mean that new Notes will be available at very significant discounts in the not too distant future? Is that what happens when a model stops production? Would love to get a brand new car with good interior space so a Note would be ideal. Also would there be any downsides to buying a car no longer made? Read more

Hi guys

Newbie here sorry for crashing the forum. I only have £2.5K to spend on a car, have a Y reg 1.2 16v Clio (65k miles) to sell or trade in. The Clio just isn't big enough for my teeny new baby it's difficult getting her ca***at in and out of 3 doors and her pram doesn't quite fit in the boot!
Ive always liked VW Golfs, need a 5 door one. But they hold their value so much that I can't afford anything much newer than my Clio and mileage is higher.
My dilemma is to either go for something sensible like a Vauxhall Meriva or get an older Golf (2001/2002)
I just don't want a really boring car, I like quite a nippy one.
I took a 2002 Jeep Chevrolet for a drive the other day it was really nice I was suckered in by the leather interior and American styling.
However I've been advised against as parts will be expensive not to mention fuel.
I like the Mercedes A class But my local mechanic says they can be a nightmare with the need to take the whole engine out to get to parts.
I don't know what to go for!
Many thanks for reading this gigantic and very Boring post!!

Bought car approx 4 weeks ago with full service. After approx 200 miles engine management light indicated faulty EGR that was replaced at local garage who also identified faulty coil pack and replaced same.

Car now seems OK when cold, idling at approx 1200rpm on startup and drops to about 800 - 900rpm when warm.... Read more

We have had an accident and car now not driveable. The radiator has been punctured and there could be other engine compartment damage. There is also small bodywork damage.

We want some estimates but only one company would come to our home to quote - we have phoned two others so far and they want to take the car away and either then do the work or will charge for towing it there and back. Any suggestions on how to get companies to come to our home to quoute?... Read more
