Hi, Im looking for advice please.I purchased a used Volco C70 2002 convertable from Warwick Road Carsales, Tyslley Bham three weeks ago and haggled the price from £2395 to £2200. It had one of those 50/50 warrenties. I collected it on the friday afternoon and drove it home from Birmingham to Coventry, then I took my partner out for a quick drive, I had covered a total of 41.8 miles and had the car for 3 hours before the cam belt snapped. i contacted the dealer who cam straight away to collect it and promised to get it repaired. he has now had the vehicle for three weeks and has apparently had to remove the head and replace all of the valves, valve seats and seals etc and has now said that as there warrenty does not cover cam belts i will have to pay £195 towards the cost of the repair and a further cost for new oil filter and oil.I would welcome advice on what to do now, i will have to pay for now as i need my car as i have been unemployed for a few months and start a new job on monday. Thanks Madguy Read more

That's quite advanced stuff (or at least it can be!)
Just bought the above car and would like to know the best way to maintain and drive it Read more
I trust its a diesel, preferably a 2.0L 8 valve. If you want to avoid engine problems and give it a long life change the oil every 6000 miles.
http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/FirstDrives/Subaru-BRZ-2.0-Premium/262006/ If I had £25,000 burning a hole in my back pocket I'd have one of these. It has already sold 4 times as many as anticipated in 2 months in Japan. Here there have been 2,000 expressions of interest and 50 deposits paid. It looks as though Subarus will soon be less rare than they have been in the UK. I prefer the BRZ to the Toyota GT-86, After all, I believe it is made by Subaru and has a Subaru engine, but shock horror, it is a RWD Subaru!! Read more
I'd have one. It looks (and reviews suggest) like it's mighty good fun. Hats off to Toyota and Subaru for a) collaborating in such manner and b) making them affordable. I reckon in about 5/6 years time I'll be able to get a used one, although I would probably go for the GT86 over the Subaru.
Ive read all the posts and they all point to my EGR beeping faulty. I changed the EGR but problem still persists.
Symptom.
When travelling and using the smallest amount of throttle to maintain speed on a flat road the car kangeroos. When using no throttle it's fine. When using a little bit more throttle, ie gently excellerating you can about feel the car fluttering. Kind of speeding up and slowing down about twice a second. It also smokes badly as well. This is very rhythmic and regular.
Before I changed the EGR I disconnected the vacuum pipe. This stopped all the above symptoms but driving was not as smooth and after a few miles the engine check light came on. I changed the EGR for a new one (already tried cleaning it out) connected everything back up. Symptoms returned and engine check light still on.
Car has done 150,000 miles but is still strong.
Any other ideas. Turbo pipe is not split.
Thanks lee

Update:
I changed the MAF sensor for a 2nd hand one. Problem is still there so now I'm totally flummoxed. Des anybody know and good diesel engineers in the north kent area?...
The Sony CD player in my CMAX runs very hot. I first noticed this when I ejected a CD after it had been playing for about half an hour and it was too hot to hold i.e. around 70 deg C. I was concerned because heating CDs to that sort of temperature can't be good for them. Some time later I was playing a CD and also had the heater on to demist the screen when the CD cut out and the radio came on. The screen showed a "CD high temp" message. I took the car back to the dealer with a photo of the error message and after a bit of hassle the unit was changed under warranty. The new one is little better and still toasting CDs although I haven't had an error message yet. Ford Customer Services know about this problem which I think is unacceptable but they haven't come up with a solution yet. Anybody else out there with a similar problem in a new model CMAX?
A number of cars suffer from this problem because when you have the heater on it gets hot behind the dashboard, the LCD display starts to fade on my 406 for the same reason, I suspect you don't get this problem in the summer when the heater is not on. I think most of the heat comes from the pipes feeding the face level air ducts on the dashboard, if you can close these and have the heat directed elswhere it might help but if you are a cold mortal like me I like hot air coming from everywhere.
Hi Guys
Anyone have any experince of towing with a Passat 4 motion 2.0TDi ?... Read more
Thanks for your input, but really looking for someone that has towed a caravan with a 2.0tdi 4 motion Passat.
I am aware of the ground cleanace issue but not really worried about that, the Landrover experince has been a bad one & customer service & dealer support has been abismal & thats putting it mildly. ...
Purchased a 2003 focus tdci from a trader for 2k.
2 weeks into owning it and 250 miles and the dual mass is rattling like hell.
I've phoned the trader and he wants me to take it to his mechanic to get his opinion.
When I take it there I would like to be clued up on who is responsible for the repair. A few friends who are traders say that he has to fix it under statutory 6month consumer protection etc but from reading previous posts and the faqs I'm getting mixed signals.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks Read more
That's exactly what I have been told by a few friends in the sole car trade business but there are a few topics on here where people say 50/50 for the repair etc so I guess I'm going to have to wait until the trader puts his proposals on the table and take it from there.
I am looking to buy a 7 seater and have found a zafira for £2650... on a 05 plate with 74000 miles....
I don't know anything about 7 seaters... is this a good buy or should I look for something else...... Read more
Few 7-seaters have anything more than token luggage space when all 7 seats are in use, so you may need to fit a towbar and use a luggage trailer when you all go camping..
Vauxhall's Club trim is certainly lower spec than Design.
Just a bit of general advise please… I have regularly visited you site over the years and everyone seems to know their onions!!
I have a 2004 Previa 2.0 T3 Diesel, covered 118k miles which I have owned for the last 4 years. She has always been serviced on the button and never had any problems.. I even treated her to a main dealer cam belt / pulleys, water pump, coolant and oil change just over 5000 miles ago..
However over the weekend cruising along at 70mph on motorway, the car just stalled (no smoke, no warning lights, no buzzers, no prior indication anything was wrong!) coasted to hard shoulder , and tried to start it once and it would go… long story short, the car was recovered by the "AA" to and independent garage due to where we were, who have indicated the engine has locked solid and on investigation they have found there is "3-4 litres" of coolant in the oil sump which in their words "sorry, your gunna need a new engine mate"…?!?
Any idea of this type of failure mode? I have always been led to believe that water in engine is normally a head gasket failure… (however no mayonnaise effect when ever i have checked the oil nor has the temp ever risen above normal!!)... I maybe being paranoid but could there be a link to the new water pump / cam fitment? (by design I guess water pump failure would cause water exist outside of engine?). Just need some ideas or pointers as what could have caused such a catastrophic failure so soon after a service without any warnings??
I feel a strongly worded letter making its way to Toyota UK as the dealer who serviced it do not seem interested or helpful in the slightest given my concerns :-(
Just a general enquiry any thoughts would be greatly welcome !
Thanks for time !

Definately try Toyota, there is some history of this problem and if you have a good srvice history they may help.

No, I'm not offended, just a bit perplexed? Perhaps you could clarify my view that:
