I would welcome some comments and thoughts.

I have a 8 year old BMW320 M Sport and the turbo has blown. It looks like it will take about £2.5k for a garage to repair the car (new turbo and a range of other parts). I estimate that the car is worth about £4k and I'm wondering if it's worth the money given that I'm going to replace the can in August. ... Read more

Try the Turbotechnics- they overhaul turbos. or they used to.

Try the BMW owners webiste- lots of help on there.

Facinated to know what people think about the Twizy. Can't see it taking off myself! I know it's been in the showrooms since last week. Anybody dared to test drive?!

I think it'll be the insurance companies who determine the success of lack thereof of the twizy. If it's considerably cheaper to insure for a 16 year old, then youngsters might be prepared to overlook its dorky outline. If it is only slightly cheaper than a car, they'll be doing extra shifts at Asda and saving up for a proper car...

Edit: I think the Twizy 80 has a better chance of success. A 28mph top speed is just too restrictive for anyone with a car licence to bother with-unless it was dirt cheap-which it isn't....

Hi all,

This is my first post on here so bare with me please! Quick question to start me off: Recently picked up a parking ticket, obviously not very happy. The thing is that the double yellow lines I was parked on were very much in a state of disrepair and barely visible. Do you think this is reasonable grounds to dispute the charge?... Read more

The OP said the lines were "barely visible" thus he had seen them.

Pay up, you parked illegally and possibly dangerously.

First port of call would be to find another garage that knows what they are doing !

Diagnosis is not that difficult with the right equipment & understanding ! the latter being more important. I fail to understand why so many garages just keep adding bits till a light goes out. ...

Anyone know if all new cars have to have some form of traction control? My 2012 old model Panta 1.2 Active Eco cuts out in bottom gear when accelerating hard. It doesn't have the ASR button of higher spec models or the ESP warning light, the two traction control items referred to in the handbook. I don't want to book it in to the dealer for something it's meant to do though. Thanks Read more

RT

It's ESP that's become mandatory - so traction control will be included.

Have experienced sudden loss of power twice this week, when negotiationg roundabouts. Car pulls away OK in first, but when changing up from 1>2 or 2>3, suddenly slows.(Feels a bit like the wheels have got stuck in something!)

It is in gear, but dies away as if not. Battery warning light flashes on momentarily, as if stalling, but when you lift off the gas, it immediately picks up and all is OK again.... Read more

Any ideas out there ??Frank

Frank, Is the car not under warranty 59 plate?????? It must still be worth a lot of money, suggest you ask your nearest dealer how much they will charge you to do a diagnostic test. Our local garages will generally do a diagnostic free under warranty, and can't see anyone charging you to come outside with the diagnostic tablet and connect it to the obd socket.. ifthey take it into the workshop i would not expect them to charge you more than half an hour, surely the age of the car warrants spending £50 on it. Let us know what happens please...AND also google chrysler grand voyager limp mode.......
