Espace 2.2Dci 2004 - Renault Espace Warning light after 45mph? - Joe Bloggs

Hi

I have a 2004 Espace 2.2dci.

Ive noticed that every time i go above 45mph the liittle amber warning light comes on. I see in the manual it says electrical fault or water in the diesel pump but it has no affect on the running of ther car???? Everything works ok, nice mpg.

When I turn the car off but leave the card in and restart the car, the warning light is still there. If i stay in the car, take the card out and reinsert it and start it up the warning light is there.... HOWEVER... When i stop the car, take the card out and the lock the doors then unock the doors insert the card and press start...........THE WARNING LIGHT IS NO LONGER THERE.. Until i do opver 45mph again.

If its anything ive noticedthat when cruise control is activated it sometimes turns itself off. Last night i came up from Kettering and it reset its self from 70 to 50mph. With this being such an exact number i guessed it must have picked up a signal sent out about a speed restriction as id passed a notice saying congestion ahead.... I never knew it had this feature!!!!! Also i was doin g 70mph on cruise control and it turned itself off for no reason, was a pain in the bum to reset but went for for another 2 hrs?? Im only grabbing at straws but does it have a feature to dis engage cruise control for a set amount of time to check you havent fallen asleep!!!!!

I would however hate to run it in this condition as surely it means that something no matter how big or small is faulty in the car and id like to get o the bottom of it without using RENAULTand their diabloical service and over priced crude they try to con you with as so called labour! But what it reallty is is a mechanic sat on his bum in a warm coffee room reading the sun having already finished the 10 hour job they charged you for 9hrs and 59mins ago!!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Upon further inspection theres oil being forced out around the manifold to the EGR valve. I guess that mnight just need a god clean?

I recommend that you do more research in Technical Matters for a start, on Laguna/Espace DCi turbo charger bearing problems. You need to consider where the oil "being forced out around the manifold to the EGR valve" is coming from. If oil other than 5w/40 synthetic (diesel) is used and is not changed ~9k miles/ once a year, it is often the case that turbo charger bearing problems occur. Also, the inlet manifold is plastic and has been known to warp etc, which causes sealing problems with associated leaks. If you cleaned up the leaking oil you might be able to work out where, exactly, it is coming from. I believe you are at the stage where you need practical mechanical help from someone who understands such problems.
