What EV would you suggest to replace my Mercedes GLC?

I currently have a diesel 22-plate Mercedes GLC which my wife and I are finding too high to get in and out of. I am considering getting an electric vehicle as I only cover approx 4000 miles per year on only local journeys of less than 10 miles. What would you recommend as a suitable vehicle replacement? I have a budget of £6-8000 plus my car.

We would estimate your current car to be worth approximately £30,000, although if you are trading it in at a dealer against another car you may receive less than this in part exchange. Assuming your budget is up to £40,000, there are some new options that might suit your needs such as the Cupra Born and Skoda Enyaq, although you will have to consider lower specification versions. However if you look for a used vehicle this would give you more choice, such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volkswagen ID4. While most of these options are technically SUVs you should find them easier to get into as they are not as high-riding as your Mercedes, although we would suggest viewing them in person so you can get a feel for how easy it is to enter and exit.
