3 days ago I had 2 new tyres fitted to my focus, front passenger was worn to 2mm and rear drivers had sidewall damage, the new tyres were both put on the front axle and existing other 2 tyres on the rear (both have 5mm treat remaining). The car then developed a vibration/wobble through the steering wheel at speeds of 55-65 mph. I returned to the tyre centre and reported the problem, they checked the wheels and tyres and identified a flat spot in the front passenger alloy wheel, I bought a new alloy from the nearest Ford Dealer and had the new tyre put on this new rim. The wobble continued, I again returned to the tyre dealer and after one of the fitters came out in the car with me he checked all of the wheels for flat spots and the balance again 'on the finest setting and they are all now zero'. Despite this the vibration/wobble is still occurring at around 60mph. After spending £140 on 2 tyres, £180 on a new alloy wheel, £15 on the tyre fitting and almost 4 hours of my time I am very frustrated, have lost confidence with the tyre dealer and seem to be not much further forward. I would be grateful for any advice as to the cause of the wobble and what the solution may be.

I had a similar problem a few years ago caused by a defective plastic ice scraper (the plastic holder had an edge that contacted the glass). The problem wasn't too bad until the sun was on the screen and then I really noticed the marks. After hunting around I was advised to use toothpaste! Yes, it worked, just a gentle grinding compound really (with a lot of effort too). It all depends on the severity of the marks. Standard cheapo toothpaste from the supermarket and soft cloths and effort. Good luck.
please can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is as need to change the filter and we can't find the filter thanks jule27 Read more

The 6 month rule is based on the assumption that a fault is latent for a period of time prior to catastrophic failure.

I have a 2008 1.4 petrol roomster. The tappets make a very loud noise on tickover and when changing gear. They are quiter at speed. Any suggestions as to what it can be? I have had the oil changed without any benefit. Read more
This may not be tappets. As far as I know this is the 1.4 16V MPI engine (not fsi) is the same (ish) belt cam as fitted to the Octavia. This engine requires regular cambelts(there are two!) & pulleys replacement as the pulleys as plastic and very prone to failure. Mine failed on my Octavia at about 56k ish miles (cant remember now) and made a hell of a noise at tickover but didn't write off the engine. Get the cambelt and pulleys checked out/replaced before it lunches the engine.
