vauxhall astra 2000 1.7 dti - starting issue - hendo476

Hi. I have a 2000 1.7 dti astra van. The yellow key/spanner light comes on when cranking but not firing/starting. Car will bump start/jump start tho. Have charged battery to no avail

If you can jump start it from another battery it would suggest that your battery is not up to the job, how old is it?

Check function of glow plugs. Have starter motor tested for amp draw at cranking.

This is easily done with an ameter.

Valve clearances, these are not hydraulic and always get overlooked. Tight clearences can make these a monster to start of the battery but will fire with a bump start due to more compression.
