It's that time of year when my car insurance is due for renewal and I just wondered if anyone could give me some advice please.
I was involved in an accident in March this year which was not my fault - a van driver came into the side of my car and admitted full liability. After much messing about with my own insurance company, Yes Insurance, I decided to withdraw my claim (as they wanted to write off my perfectly good car) and instead I went to a local garage with an accident management company attached. They handled all my repairs and claimed the costs from the 3rd party insurance company. I was also received a personal injury payout. I didn't pay anything and neither did my own insurance company. I checked with Yes Insurance before I withdrew my claim from them, that as it was a no-fault accident it would not affect my premium next year and they said no it wouldn't. However when they sent me my renewal quote for the coming year it was a full £300 higher than last year!... Read more
The head gasket on my 2010Peugeot 207 1.4 was repaired under manufacturer warranty.
The failure caused oil to leak into the cooling system. Now there is oil in the coolant and the reservoir is black and stained.... Read more
Yes the cooling system should have been flushed but the cam belt will only need changing when its duee on time or distance.

I had this experience, albeit with the Multimedia Screen/Sat Nav but which does include radio function, on my 1.6Tdi DSG Sportback. As it was under warranty I took it back to my Audi dealer in Hull who quickly diagnosed a duff connection from the ignition switch. They replaced it there and then ( so must keep them in stock!!) and no re-occurrence for the past year.
Hope this helps!...
I was travelling up the M5 last friday, and I came upon two gritting lorries, gritting the road, also the gantry signs warned of "salt Spreading" Now why can this be ? the temperature was unusually warm at 24 degrees according to my car display. No freezing conditions were forecast in the area. It seems like absolute madness to me. Read more
Saw a gritting lorry yesterday morning, it was -2C on the A9 and the verges were white over. Earlier in the week the tops od the Cairgorms were white over.
A strong musty smell in the cabin has been traced to trapped water in the near-side box section between front/rear wheels. How do I find its entry point? And then how do I dry out the sound-insulating foam which is acting like a sponge? ( no point until I can stop further ware entering ) The floor pan is dry inside Read more
Thanks for the suggestions; I suspected it would not be that simple. Deep water can be ruled out. I did wonder if applying an air-line to one of the drain holes would give any indication by the noise of escaping air at the water entry site.
Hi, not sure if this is the right place for this or if I need to find a specialised ICE forum? I have a Mk2 (2000/W) Chrysler Grand Voyager with an Infinity sound system installed.
I decided to replace the original head unit and bought a Mutant MT7609BT (www.mutant.uk.com/products/new-mutant-mt7609bt-blu...t) so I can stream music from my iphone via Bluetooth.... Read more
Without knowing the exact set up you have it appears from what you say that you are trying to drive a power amp from the output of the head unit and using the wrong connections or you have a complete mismatch. You really need an AVO and knowledge on how to use it do you not know somebody who has car radio fitting experience.
Happy for people to tell me I'm wrong !
I bought a 2004 XTrail a month ago from a car dealer called "vip car sales" in mobberley in cheshire ( http://www.vip-carsales.co.uk/ )... Read more
Exactly. Unlike a throttled petrol, a diesel engine is huge air pump when you're coasting down to a halt, so the turbo is cooled while you're slowing down. Idling will probably warm it back up again! It won't do any harm to idle it if it gives peace of mind though.
Was asked to help a find a new car for a friend. Much searching on Auto trader some phoning after cars. And we had a couple of possibles.
From rural Efficks we drove 60 miles to NW London as the Focus TDCi advert said 'one owner, perfect condition'. Price was OK, photos looked OK, not too cheap sounded good so off we went.... Read more

Call me cynical but any place that doesn't accept credit cards for large purchases won't get my custom...such as CarGiant. ) I'm sure it's not the credit card that's the issue ,it's the charge that credit card companies levy that's the problem ,typically 3% . Typically a company like car giant will have a gross margin of £500 ,net after vat about £420 .On a typical sale of say £8000 after part exchange you will be looking at approximately £5000 ,3% = £150 .More than a third of the net profit . I take credit cards ,but only if the buyers willing to pay the 3 % ,it's very rare any buyer is willing to pay the 3% . Most buyers pay with a debit card ,which has a flat fee of £1.50 ,obviously we don't charge that to the customer . The debit card fee of £1.50 ,is a typical fee .How do the airlines get away with charging a fee of £25 . Tony g
The new Cayenne S diesel variant is expected to come with almost the same exterior appearance and hardware as that of the regular Cayenne S petrol engine model, so the major changers are restricted only to the technical specs. Read more

Hi, what would be the best way to disconnect the ac, would it be best to remove the fuse or remove the relay, and would this cause any other problems by doing this. Thanks

They already know the answer to this question from the shared insurance database, they will take your money and then cancel your insurance at a later date, this will add a "insurance refusal" to your record - combine the two, you will soon be looking at a hefty premium loading!
Go to an old fashioned high street insurance brioker and discuss the issues with them.
