yaris 2004 - water ingress into floor-pan box section/ cill - Peter L C

A strong musty smell in the cabin has been traced to trapped water in the near-side box section between front/rear wheels. How do I find its entry point? And then how do I dry out the sound-insulating foam which is acting like a sponge? ( no point until I can stop further ware entering ) The floor pan is dry inside

Hmm...

How long is a peice of string?

Possible entry points:

1. front wheelarch: plastic liner adrift/cracked, water through it and a hole in front sill.

2. Rear wheel arch. Hole in sill/wheelarch joint.

3. Down A Post, B Post or C post. A post : round front windscreen most likely. Check the entire seal for splits etc. But it then depends on a hole in metal.

4. Down through roof seal with side: plastic strips on roof plus hole. Seems very unlikely.

5. Been through deep puddles/fords/rivers... As it's the near side the driver would know it. Would have to be over 500mm deep, nearer 1 metre. Most likely.

No doubt other possibilities. Such as holes in sill through rust/damage - check underneath.

Dry it out: warm garage and warm jet of air directed at sill. Leave 24-48 hours.

Thanks for the suggestions; I suspected it would not be that simple. Deep water can be ruled out. I did wonder if applying an air-line to one of the drain holes would give any indication by the noise of escaping air at the water entry site.
