Hi all,
I have a P reg ('97) Ford Fiesta and the driver side fore/aft seat adjuster (i.e. for sliding the seat forward and back to change driver position) is broken. It seems like the problem is simply a spring that has become detached, but I don't know how to access the mechanism in order to reattach it.... Read more
Hi have had problems with my zafira and alan has come back to me with directions to the throttlebody which we will be changing but we have reason to believe the egr could also be the culprit on this one
If you run it it ticks over fine, and eventually will cut out and have wait awhile before it will start again... Read more
I drive a citroen xsara 1.8 estate auto which I have loved for it's speed and load carrying, but it's 14yrs old and only does 20ish in urban. I have been trying to save after recently moving house, but only saved £1500. I have been looking at the Honda Jazz as an alternative, but don't think I can afford one? any recommendations, I do 500 mile round trips every couple of mths, but most of the time it's just across the midland. Thanks Avant, it is a good car, but the cambelt hasn't been done since 70000 and it's on 125k so probably less than £5000 to go according to the manual. It needs a new radiator £200+, the starting motor is a bit iffy and the auto gear box slips around 40. But other than that she has virtually no rust and an egine like a trojan!
My Berlingo seems to destroy LEDs. I have changed the filament lamps in the number plate lights (Ironically as they are a pain to do, so I decided to fit 'everlasting' LEDs.
They have all ended up flickering and failing.... Read more
I found that LED front sidelights on my car failed after only a short time. It strikes me that putting LEDs across the raw fluctuating DC of a car doesn't do 'em any good! Remember that the nominal 12 volts goes up and down a bit with the engine revs. Properly designed LED vehicle lights wil use LED driver circuits to ensure a constant current.

All to do with weight reduction. Steel and glass roofs are heavy and add weight. Peugeot are supposed to be returning to fabric roofs for the 208cc
Hi,
Yesterday I got out of the car and locked it as normal. I noticed that the radio was still on. I got back in the car, put the key card in, took it out, radio still on. I put key card back in, started the car, stopped the car, took key card out, radio still on. I closed the door and locked the car. Radio still on. I put the key card in, took it out, radio still on.... Read more

There is an option in the vehicle settings that makes the alarm go off if the plug is disconnected whilst the car is locked.
Im currently running about in a 2000 Citreon Xantia HDI, it has the standard suspension set up as its only the Forte model, not hydractive. The suspension all works in the sense it rises and falls, isnt harsh, doesnt leak etc and the spheres were changed not long before I got the car. The fault is the front valve on the bottom crossmember sits in a cradle. This cradle appears to be seized solid. Ive tried stripping it and cleaning etc but its too far gone. Does anyone know the part number for this or where I could possibly buy one? Ive disconnected the linkage bar for now and set the height to normal using the anti roll bar correcter bit. Thanks Read more
Are you saying that the front height corrector is not working? If you can get the correct height with the manual lever it must be. There is very little movement in the linkage, hardly perceptible in fact, could it be that the clamp around the anti roll bar needs adjusting?
My mechanic put some radweld in the rad a few months ago because of a small hole. I have noticed that if the car is running but stationary, water pumps out of the bottom, but does not do this when driving. Has the radiator gone, or could it be the radiator fan is sticking or something else. I don't understand why it doesn't leak when i'm driving the car? Thank you for any advice:) I'm trying as a female to not get ripped off by the garages, as 1 quoted me £661 for a new rad fitted and it's an S reg car! Read more
Thanks Peter, I'll look out for that particular model, good to know:) My mechanic is looking at the car tomorrow, so the verdict will be in!
I know there is already a topic about tesco trying to sell cars but now it seems they are delving into the realms of designing roundabouts. Fareham, my local town, now have had tesco "revamp" a roundabout that serves gosport, fareham area, in exchange for them being allowed to open a new superstore (something tells me that this wasn't the only favour being done!!). Gosport is already notorious for being a bad place to get in and out of with there being only 2 roads connecting it to the outside world. but now tesco has ruined this roundabout.

I wouldn't say its blackmail - why should the public pay for infrastructrue which is needed only to make a developer profit?
If the store can prove using current highway standards that the existing infrastructure is sufficent to meet future demands, then they can build with no improvements. If however the store is predicted to increase traffic then the infrastructure improvements should be paid by the developer. ...

Why the obsession with deleting EGR? Unlike on diesels, there is no fuel economy/soot benefit to be gained (economy might actually decrease). Just make sure the EGR works as intended!
