Is it just me.
Back room throws up many fascinating problems ,often from desperate individuals , who say they don't know what to do next.
So the original posters benefit from the wealth of information that contributors provide .
Then nothing ! It would be great if the original poster gave an indication of what the outcome of their problem was.
Very few seem to bother ,is it just me that's irritated by this.

If you've got fluid and the drivebelt is okay but still heavy steering.. try revving the engine up whilst stationary and seeing if it helps lighten the steering at all.. you can get free advice if you ring the steering specialists on 0208 853 3343
I have just picked up a a dent on the door of my 3 week old skoda octavia, just looks like someone else has opened a door on it but was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a paintless dent repair guy in the exeter area? There are a couple of local guys but not sure who is good and who is bad..............anyone any experiences? Read more
Found this thread through Google, I know it's an old one but was looking for a reputable dent repairer to look at my car. I had one so called dent repairer based in Barnstaple spend 2 hours making my damaged wing look worse than it was when he started, so it was without much hope I called the guys at www.dentrepairservice.co.uk I spoke to Steve who agreed to come have a look at my sorry Audi, after a 5 minute chat about what could be done he made a start. I hadn't been made aware the front wing of my car was aluminium by the other chap and as such should be treated differently especially when it comes to the tools and techniques used. After around an hour the car was back to A1 condition, I am genuinely astounded that it could be put right and relieved that it didn't end up in a paintshop! So a big thanks to honest johns forum and of course the guys at dent repair service ??
I am hoping for some objective advice as I am beginning to get a bit paranoid. I have a 306 2.0 HDI which was my first peugeot after wanting one for ages. about 9 months after purchase a wire from the fuel relay died, there was no "actual fault" per se, but apparently peugeot sometimes use cheap wire which then corrodes. I managed to run a new wire that from the relay plug to the engine fusebox and since then the car has been a nice drive with just normal maintenance being needed. Then prior to the MOT in september the brake light wouldnt go off completely and again it was a dead wire as it stayed the same with both the brake fluid plug and hand brake plug removed. So again a new piece of wire and all was well, This however made me lose confidence in the loom. And because of the amount of computers and sensors on the HDI I decided it was wise to seek out a replacement before a wire for the ECU itself or something equally fatal also rotted. So I have now bought a 52 plate 307 2.0 HDI only to see many references to these ALSO having crappy wire used in the loom. So now I am wondering if as much as I like the car if the experienced professionals on here with experience of peugeots of this kind of age think I just just ditch the new car right away and maybe look at something else like perhaps a focus although to be perfectly honest I am half tempted to go back to something more "simple" like a rover 200 series, maybe the streetwise on a 53/54 plate due to the lower level of computerisation and complexity (and cheapness of spares). Any advice would be greatly appreciated (PS Why cant I do paragraphs on here? Is it something I am doing wrong or the website itself?).....Mike Read more
Don't hit it very often (honest) but at about two thirds of the way to the floor there is a resistance that requires a definate effort to get past.
Not sure what is going on, is it a performance thing, an economy thing, or a fault?... Read more
Hello...need a bit of help here as I have never come across this ever. At low speeds there seems to be a "creaking" or vibration when I turn the steering wheel (only at low speeds). This also seems to activate the ABS as well as I feel a vibration through the pedal. I have had the car checked for the reluctor rings (replaced offside) and set up on the PC and no faults showing. WTF. Has anoyone any suggestions?

hi, i was just wondering how much it will cost me to get my 1999 citroen xsara serviced coz a spanner symbol has appeared on the display near the mileage but it disappears a few seconds after i start the car. and also when i turn the heater on 3 and 4 it is very noisy and loud like a really loud humming noise, its okay on 1 and 2 settings but 3 and 4 are rather loud plus there is not much air coming up through the dashboard onto the windscreen or anywhere so the window steams up most times. It does not have AC (i don't think) thank you for your help. Don't know if the pollen filter is in circuit on recirculate but it certainly is on fresh air, if its clogged it will reduce the air output from the heater so I should check that first.
Hi, I am going to Germany later this month and am searching for Winter Tyres that meet the German regulations. I have been offered a budget tyre called the 'Fullway Snowtrak' but can't find any authoritative reviews of it anywhere. This website: www.fullwayfullrun.com/ seems to indicate that the tyres may not be legal in Germany. Anyone found any credible reviews? I am unsure as to what to do.
Thanks Collos 25.
Yea, strange isn't it to get so much conflicting advice. I agree with you and what you say is what I had understood . . .

Thanks for the supportive comments chaps. I try to delete all personal abuse, but there wasn't any in this case as you know. He (I presume it was a he) just didn't get the answer he wanted.
People come and go on forums - it was ever so. But it's good to have quite a lot of regulars who stay with us: I think the backroom is (as well as being a general discussion forum) a really useful complement to the wealth of other information which is available on this site, and now is a good opportunity to say thank you so much for the time you take in giving advice (which fortunately the great majority appreciate!).
