Hi All
My boxer has recently developed an issue where I loose nearly all acceleration for what can be a random amount of time and in any gear. It then recovers and goes back to normal.
I get no warning light or engine management lights and engine temp is constant and normal. Van starts every time and have no smoke coming from exhaust.
I'm thinking either a turbo issue or fuel issue. Any help or pointers would be great.
Thanks

while traveling at 55 mph or more there is a drone noise with vibration coming from the front of car.The faster you go and the longer you travel the worse it gets.If you dip the clutch or put it into neutral while traveling the noise and vibration disapears. It is similar to binding brakes but obviously is not.Any ideas. What dipped beam headlights (H7) have you found give the best ratio of light onto the road ?
I need to get them changed on the Focus, the garage can fit & realign them but I wanted to ask for your opinion on what you have found works best.
A couple of popular makes come to mind :
(1) Osram Night Breaker Plus 90%
(2) Philips X-treme Vision +100%
Anyone tried Ring XENON Ultima +120% ?
If so how do they compare with the above two popular makes ?
Thanks. Read more

Don't let a garage align them, they are not accurate enough....
Hi,
the car is a vw polo 1996, was driven through an unexpected puddle and stopped. It started working again but died completely a day later.
The problem is with the ignition system, a spark is jumping from the coil to the nearest point it can find. HT lead is fine and a new distributor cap and rotor have been fitted. Also plugs and leads are reasonably new and look in good condition. Not sparking on the plugs.
Also tried drying obvious electrical points and spraying with wd40....
Any advice would be welcome and appreciated!!
Thanks Read more
>>a spark is jumping from the coil to the nearest point it can find.
It may well have ploughed a convenient furrow of least resistive path and on its' way created a better path. I've cured that sort of problem by removing all the respective parts and after a thorough cleaning, sorted it....
Hello all

Concentrating on the wheel wobble you are right to be concerned. No car, expecially a car capable of over 150 mph should do this and any competant tyre supplier should be able to balance them correctly, being big is not an excuse. Porsches and any other high performance car can and normally will have led a hard life and due to the high speed they can achieve may well have seen the wrong side of the hedge on more than one occation. If this has happened it is possible a wheel or wheels are bent and this can make balancing difficult or imposible. On any car of 2004 vintage there may be suspension wear or if it has been in an accident damage that has been repaired badly or not at all, this can cause wheel wobble. You need to get the car assessed by a Porsche specialist and then move forward with the info. If it should be unsafe and you have an accident how would you feel if a 3rd party were injured or killed, the Police would be looking at you initially since you were driving the car.
With regards to poor lighting they made just need adjusting, if the car has been in an accident they may not have been adjusted correctly afterwards, providing they are not to high or pointing right it will pass an MOT....
I have just driven home from work and I passed a Merc which had brake lights on and the little bar of lights in the back window too. Most off-putting as you approach as it makes you think there's a hazard/cutting up etc ahead.
How can he have managed that?! Wiring may have gone awry but can you drive an automatic with the 'brake' still on? I reckoned it to be an auto C-class early 2000s. Read more
My Landrover Freelander 2 auto doesnt speed up going down hill ! if it senses its speeding up it changes down automatically, its very good and does save sitting on the brakes. If the brake lights were on all the time on mine you wouldnt be able to drive it as the throttle is cut off.
If its a very steep decent and in snow or ice the HDC ( hill decent control) is fantastic and does it all for you....
On fleabay at the moment, there are two Note wheels shod with winter rubber. However they are 15 inch whereas my Note has 16 inch wheels. But their tyres are 65 profile whereas mine are 55 profile.
Would these be the same overall diameter?... Read more
There is nothing stopping you from buying these two at the great price on offer and then buying two more wheels & tyres to make up a set of 4
Get the Nissan wheel part number and search for that .... I did this in the summer and now have two sets of wheels, one with summer tyres and the second on the car now with winters.

Motor insurance certificate has been all but eliminated for many people anyway - I get sent mine by email and have to print it out myself, hardly secure, but the authorities have other ways of checking I'm insured, taxed and MoT'd.
I don't even bother to print it now that I don't need it to tax the car.

sorry forgot to say no work done recently.
