SWMBO's Corsa (new shape) needs a new headlight on driver's side. Handbook indicates straightforward disconnect of hose feeding air filter but ignores the fact that the air filter housing itself just happens to be in the way of the access to the headlight chamber. Halford's guy was very helpful but completely stumped.
Anyone any ideas before I bite the bullet and offer it up to the dealer on top of the series of 02 sensors and other electronic failures that this money-pit amounts to, please?... Read more

I have the EAC message flashing up. I have tried what you have suggested here, unplugging the connector to the MAF and now when I run like this the EAC message stays of, also I think the power is a bit up. Is it a fix to simply leave this off permanently?

I wonder if anyone has experienced this before. My wifes Zafira 1.6 club has stopped working. There is no power going to anything apart from stereo, electric windows and interior lights. There is no ignition lights when the key is turned and I cannot even lock the car as the central locking is not working with either the fob, or key. However, when I towed it to the dealer, the electrics came on ( as soon as I stopped they went off again ). The engine still would not start though. I have tested the battery which is ok, tried the spare key, which still does nothing and tried my fault code reader, which would not even power up. The dealer put it on their computer, and told me "it could be the fuse box" at a cost of £378.00 fitted. The dealer also said there is a backlog of fuse boxes on order. If this is the case, is this a common problem? Any ideas will be much appreciated. Read more
Hi, did you manage to solve the problem as I am having the same issue no power when I turn the ignition only the radio comes on. I have replaced the fuze box but still no joy?

Hi All,
Is white lithium grease any good on rubber? I have read somewhere that it may damage rubber. I just want to confirm this. Read more
Mr Sheen is also good on rubber, especially window glides and door rubbers.
Is there a definitive answer to the question of Diesel or Petrol?
I'm looking to replace our present car, a 2002 Seat Toledo 1.9TDI SE, with something similar. The list has presently been whittled down to the Mazda 6, (room for children and all their kit/shopping etc). However usage is approx 10K per year most of which is by the wife on short trips.... Read more
Had a 57 plate mazda 6 petrol for 6 years. I did 140k and it never once let me down once. During this six years I changed both front wheel bearings, rear break calipers played up once, aircon recharged and that's it. I changed the Oil and filter every 20k of mileage and and twice at 30k and engine was still as crisp and smooth as when it had 17k on the clock. I should add that I did motorway mileage. The car was very kind on the tyres. I managed 70k on brand new budget tyres . Fuel economy was around 42mpg.
Overall experience with Mazda was one of admiration. I would not hesitate to get another mazda whatsoever. Fantastic reliable car.
Hi all, after looking & all the posts on here & other mazda forums I can tell the DPF system is fairly problematic on these & six's.
Here is my problem, I have owned the car 2 1/2 years & dont do too many miles as now work within 1 mile of home (14k in the time I have owned it).... Read more
What sort of driving did you do on your 3 hour journey. Was it mainly open roads over 40mph or mostly around town. This car with a DPF won't tollerate prolonged town use & wll need a run above 40mph at least every 100 miles or so. If it is now in limp mode due to a clogged DPF it will need an emergency forced regen at the dealers. If the DPF gets destroyed in the process ( unlikely ) then cheapest way out would be to get it deleted.
The nearside front and rear side lights have stopped working. The bulbs are all okay and I can find no reference to a single fuse that serves these lights.
Can anybody help? Read more
This thread proves one thing, you can't beat taking the old part in to compare it with the replacement, even something as simple as a bulb.

Hi all, any advice would be welcome on this one.
I returned to my car this afternoon to be greeted by the pleasant sight of a yellow sticker on the windscreen, courtesy of the Apcoa gorillas. I was parked in my works' car park, but in the wrong section. We have an 'indoors' and an 'outdoors' section, with our permanent work permits only valid outdoors. Having lost mine I am currently using a temporary one which I had thought was valid indoors, but seemingly not. I will obviously take this up at work, but assuming that they aren't interested, is there anything work looking at to avoid handing over £50 to this bunch of ______?! A lot has been said on this forum about simply ignoring correspondance, however this was a 'proper' ticket issued to the car, not posted, and issued by a proper little man in a hi-viz (bless him) rather than a shady CCTV operation. I imagine Apcoa and their delightful 'World of Parking' (!!) to be rather good at collecting their fines?
Any widsom much appreciated, Ta. Read more

Hi, Gents anyone put me right on this one, Ford mondeo Titanium 2.2 running as a cab so milage is racking up quickly, in an effort to pre-empt the inevitable failure of the dpf i have been looking at having it removed. The are legions of companies advertising this service, but the thing that drives me mad is this desire to remap and download software to block the regen cycle, as far as i know the regen is only initiated by the sensors at either end of the dpf sensing the pressure difference between what is going in and what is coming out. What if i obtained a redundent dpf knock the middle out and fit that one would assume regen will never happen as it will never sense a blockage plus the fuel catalyst can be left in place so the engine in theory would burn cleaner, or am i living in a fools paradise. I just dont fancy being rumped to the tune of £1500 by the blue oval bandits evry eighteen months, i am greatful for any advice or info regarding this Read more
Judging by the service the DPF cleaning company offer, it seems the first step to avoid problems is to change the engine oil regularily and to use a low SAPS oil.
When I put the engine under load, ie accelerate hard to overtake, the glow light comes on and the engine still runs but with reduced power. When I stop the car, turn off the engine, then restart, it appears to reset and all is ok until the next time I put it under load. I would be very grateful for any advice.

If you do a search on this site you will find detailed descriptions on the subject.
To increase the power on the diesel engines provided to Jaguar/Ford they changed from a vacuum actuator to a electronic unit matched to a garret turbo, these units are supplied as one piece as they have to be calibrated together failure to do so causes the turbo to run out of sync.Fords/Jaguar charge mega bucks for the replacement unit they are actually available at around £675+vat and take around 4hours to remove the old unit and replace the new one.The reason the actuator fails is through to much heat it bakes itself there are companies around that say they will supply just the actuator but you then need to calibrated it to your turbo. The Jaguar/Ford diesel engines when they have done a reasonable mileage need the EGR valve and inlet manifold removing and thouroughly cleaning failure to do this normally manifests itself as a poor running engine or a blown turbo. ...

I can't wait for all those shiny low mileage Corsas getting scrapped when they fail the MOT.
